A gorgeous hike in upstate NY with barely any crowd. Total of 650ft elevation so a relatively easy hike with a partial view of the Hudson from top but the path itself is very scenic and there are a couple of lakes to stop by if you do the whole loop. Some trails intersect biking trails but we barely encountered any bikers. Best time to visit this is in Oct for the fall colours.

Nice place for a little hike. The less traveled red trail was peaceful. It's not well blazed so if you are someone who is less experienced, red might not be for you. Stick to the more interior trails. "mountain" is a nice snack spot. Saw turtles, frog, pileated woodpecker and a snake. 3 deer near the exit on the drive out.

Nice trail, too many mosquitoes and bees. The trails were clear enough to not get lost, though very rocky and slippery at some points. Wear appropriate clothing, and tons of repellent. Went with family, my mother and my son got stung within the first hour. I've visited at different times of day, early before 10 is best, not many people. Picks up about 3pm, not sure if ATVs and MotoCross bikes are allowed but surely heard plenty of them through the trails after 5pm. Picnic areas are nice, plenty of spots to choose from, grills are still in good enough condition. There are port-a-potties available for after the public restrooms are closed. Scenery and tranquility makes up for any of the minor nuisance. You'll want to go often...

I have known this park for 57 years. It is a beautiful park to go strolling with your dog or bike with the familyYet it has alot to be desired. Years ago before the county took it over during the summer there used to be lake swimming with life guards and a concession stand. In the winter ice skating and sledding with a concession stand and a warm cozy fire in the fireplace to sit by. Now it just offer hiking trails and mountain bike trails. Westchester County along with Peekskill and the Town of Cortland are planning to add kyacks and a dog park among other activities which will change my rating...

I’ve been hiking here for over thirty years and access is a convenient walk up the road from my house. It’s a very pleasant local place to walk during the week. Family hikers manage to share it with mountain bikers without too much friction but over the years, the bikers have expanded into more and more areas, often blazing trails “off piste.” Another disturbing development involves the use of ever wider and more rugged tires that destroy flora and make deeper ruts. Bikers, please take note and be...
