Very cool cars old and new and ones I have never heard of, which shocked me. The staff was very pleasant and amazing and I have to explain what they were up against, the gentleman who I met at Spac for a first meet/date said let's see the cars, I was excited as I've been going to Spac my whole life and never went in. He made it so awkward, first we walk in and he says to the gentleman at the counter I have to pay for this, why what's so special? The sign podsted on the door says prices at first I thought he was joking, then realized when he wouldn't stop he wasn't which I then offered to pay, he refused and he then tried to get in for free because he had a ny state park pass, which the gentleman kindly said repeatedly and calmly and very respectfully that the museum is separate entity. Then when that didn't work he said then I'm paying senior pricing threw a 20 down saving himself 4 dollars. I tried to pay again to end the embarrassment. But the nice gentleman took the 20 and said she isn't a senior :) but please enjoy yourself. Super happy he said that as I am 50. Then the poor gentleman on the second floor had to ask multiple times for him to stop touching the cars as they are antiques and there are ropes w signs, please dont touch, he handled it so well a true professional. A smart professional young man correcting a 60 yr old man, that made my day!. Great staff!! Will go again to the museum and it is only 12 dollars 😀 but not on...
Read moreThe Saratoga Automobile Museum displays a great collection of automobiles. The museum has two floors of unique automobiles from all walks of life. The museum will appeal to a gearhead or anyone who has an interest in automobile history. One of the more interesting cars displayed is their 1912 Model T. I have seen other Model T’s on display, but this one was unique because it had a 1912 engine with a 1914 body. It really shows the genius of how well interchangeable parts worked on this piece of American History. All sorts of different cars were showcased including a VW Bus from the 1960’s, Midget Stock Cars, Ferrari’s, McLaren's, and a Ford Phaeton. The museum did a nice job detailing the story and history of their automobiles. For a small museum the variety that they were able to showcase is very good. The James Bond collection is also a must see. Cars from James Bond flicks as far back as the 1960’s all the way to the 2000’s are on display. Some of the top names in this collection include Aston Martin, Jaguar, BMW, and a Mercury Cougar. The display also has submarines, motorcycles, and stunt cars. If you like the movies or just like cars this display is a must. The staff was friendly and helpful at the museum. There is a gift shop on the premises. It is best to purchase tickets ahead of time online. Tickets can be purchased there as well. The museum can take about an hour or more to see. A great museum in the...
Read moreThis was a bit of a disappointment as I have visited previously and it was much better.
After paying the senior entrance fee of $15 each, we visited the current display which was all about the vehicles that were just in James Bond movies. They had quite a few, which was surprising how this little museum in upstate NY was able to get them, kudos to them. This part of the museum on the first floor was pretty good. One of the issues I had was instead of putting a printed information card about each vehicle yo had to stand there and watch a long film clip on a tablet about the particular vehicle to finally get the information. It would have been better to have the vehicle information on a printed sign rather that having to wait for the clip on the tablet to finish. Even with killing all the time viewing the film clips, it took us about 45 minutes to view them all.
Then onto the second floor where there was signage from old exhibits on the walls and midget race cars and a few full size ones mixed with two beautiful Italian creations from the 1930's. It took us less than 10 minutes to do the second floor.
The museum is located in a historic building, the old spring water bottling plant which might be the reason it was so small. It is a repurposed building so there is little room for a lot of cars.
All that said, there are better and less expensive sites to see in the area. I don't think I will...
