I DO RECOMMEND TRYING THE CLASSES - THESE ARE JUST MY PERSONAL EXPERIENCES
I've done two classes, both described as not needing experience - Friday night ring making and hollow forms. The ring making definitely felt beginner friendly and I was able to walk out with a piece that I wear daily. The hollow forms class had a lot of potential but as someone with very little knowledge and experience, it felt like there was a lot that needed to be shown and there's only one instructor. I chose to create my own form from plexiglass which took additional time and put me steps behind other people in the class so I felt that a decent amount of time was spent waiting for the instructor to be available so I could learn. Completely personal to me, but written instructions or labeling of areas/machines in the shop may have helped with my being able to continue my project without having to wait as much as I did. Some points felt a little frustrating because there would be low fuel levels in the torches, the Dremel tips were all worn down with no new tips as backup, and there were steps for some of the metals that I chose that I was told needed to be done - for example heating a metal so that it became easier to flatten/make thinner - but I wasn't shown how it was done. The instructor just offered to do it since it would be time consuming, which believe me was appreciated but I truly wanted to learn. The work spaces themselves are nice though. The tables are adjustable to a height that works best for you and each station has its own set of tools. By the end of the hollow form class (we had actually already gone past the time allotted for the class at this point) I recognized that this wasn't going to turn into a jewelry piece that I would want to wear or gift and I did voice that concern. The instructor tried to stay positive which was appreciated but then stressed that this was an advanced class... I chose this particular class (as a birthday gift from a family member) specifically because it said that experience wasn't needed.
Four stars for: Nice people Work spaces are comfortable The hollow forms description saying one thing about experience level while the instructor said another Feeling like the financial investment in the hollow forms class didn't translate to a wearable...

Read moreI learned there would be a Sunday Mentorship class which suited my schedule. I was really excited to sign up as this is something I always wanted to do. The space is beautiful, very open. There are enough work stations for a small class so everyone can get hands on experience. Kelly is very knowledgeable and generous with that knowledge. She is patient and well versed in guiding a beginner and a more experienced person in class which individual attention to whomever needs it.
