The Mount Church — Attraction in Clemson

This is Christ’s Church! Jesus reigns so palpably here- he knits us together in fellowship, in the “hymns and spiritual songs,” and with meaty preaching- the whole service is worship! I’ve never been in a church where my pastor knows me well- let alone my sins, my joys, my struggles, etc. Our pastor is committed to bearing the mantle of shepherd. He smells like the flock, walks with the flock, and welcomes us (especially college students) into his home continually. The preaching consists of the full counsel of God- it is “solid food,” that has born righteousness and godliness as its fruit over weeks, months, and years. It’s so clear that Jesus is sanctifying us and washing us with the water of his word. If you’re interested in discipleship (which everyone should be,) residency programs, evening teachings, and college services on Wednesday nights are designed to provide it. Beautiful church. Very nice people. Loved the hymns. The sermon was filled with several separate ideas: charity, the sins of many of the mighty people in scripture, martyrdom, and "good people". This was a rambling sermon with great emphasis in places that had no central point. It barely held on to the initial scripture reading at the beginning of the sermon and the other scripture reading at the start of the service had no meaning attached to the sermon. A movie reference and today's news.

Solid Bible preaching is what people need. Today's sermon did not meet that goal. Hopefully, it was a one off.
