It's always great to see a new art-focused space open up in Cleveland, especially one like SHED, dedicated to providing comprehensive creative programming around the visual arts (and hopefully sound art/performance art/music as well). So far the range of works I have seen at SHED are all of a very high quality (I have been exposed to both local and national artists that I had not seen before in Cleveland which has been great). As an artist myself, I love seeing dedicated individuals breaking the mold of the current gallery scene here in Cleveland, treating their space as a creative project in itself as well as a place to collaborate with and show artists work. Read moreHaving followed SHED since its inception in New Orleans I was ecstatic to learn they would be coming to the Cleveland area. I asked the owners why this location, having been a community member of the Clark-Fulton area since before it was developed, and they explained that the house was particularly chosen as a nod to their blended Latin and German heritage and to be taken on as a longterm historical preservation project.
The owners (Gabi and Jon) are friendly, accessible and happy to discuss their current projects and longterm vision. It’s exciting to see them give back to the community, and contribute to Cleveland’s art scene in such an influential way. Hopefully this won’t be a hidden...
