I booked a bioluminescence kayak tour for my family for my wife's 40th birthday. Before booking, I called to get some guidance and information regarding the different options. I spoke to Ian who was really friendly and answered all my questions. On his recommendation I booked individual kayaks for my wife and sons and a tandem for my daughter (10 YO) and myself. On the night of our trip , we were met by our guide, Jordan, at the launch site. Right off the bat she set a positive mood. She was friendly, funny, and informative...she had us laughing and pumped up before we ever hit the water! I was only expecting to see bioluminescent algae as it was late July, but Jordan explained that they were still finding comb jellies as well which are non stinging jellyfish which light up when touched as if they have internal light strips š. This of course was an unexpected bonus as we caught several of them right near the docks. Another bonus is we were the only ones in our group (normally there are up to 12 people on a kayak tour) so we basically had a private tour! After playing with the jellies for a bit, Jordan lead us through the mangroves as she explained how the bioluminescence works and educated us on the Banana River. She was very informative and provided valuable information in a way that was fun and kept everyone's attention. The paddling was easy and we saw plenty of bioluminescence which was very cool. I some areas any movement created a blue glow in the water. At one point we stopped near some mangroves where the bioluminescence was strong. We were able to put our hands in the water which would light up as you moved your fingers or swirled your hand. If you pick some up in your palm and let it run down your arm, it was like tiny stars running down your arm. A rocket launch was scheduled from nearby Cape Canaveral that night. Even though it was scheduled for 30 minutes after our tour was supposed to end, Jordan offered to let us stay out so we could see the launch from the water (we were the last tour for the night). Unfortunately the launch was delayed so we headed back. When we returned to the docks Jordan caught a few comb jellies which she put in a water bottle for our daughter. She was so excited as they would light up when you swirled the bottle... like the aquatic version of fireflies in a jar š. Overall it was a wonderful experience for everyone and Jordan was amazing! I highly recommend. BTW, sorry I don't have pictures of the actual bioluminescence. It was dark and we were in salt water, I didn't want to chance losing or...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreOkay, listen up, because my wife and I just had the most mind-blowing sunset kayak tour in Cocoa Beach, and it was all thanks to Ian and DJ! Seriously, if you're looking for an unforgettable adventure, these guys are it. Ian and DJ were a blast. They're super friendly, hilarious, and just packed with knowledge. They made us feel totally comfortable and genuinely connected through their use of cheesy humor and laid-back authenticity. Their energy was infectious, and we knew we were in for a great time. The lagoon was beautiful to paddle through! We couldn't believe how many manatees we saw poke their cute noses out of the water. We also spotted fish leaping out of the water, herons standing beneath the mangroves for āwork smarter not harderā approach to hunting, and ospreys flying overhead (which we learned is one of the only hawks that survives entirely on a seafood diet). Ian and DJ were awesome at pointing out all the different creatures and telling us cool facts about them. We also got to explore the fascinating three kinds of mangrove trees, learning about their unique eccentricities (such as the sacrificial leaves on one or salty leaves on another) as well as the history of the mangrove tunnels. Then, as the sun dipped below the horizon and darkness settled in, the real magic began: the bioluminescent water! Every stroke of our paddles lit up the water in brilliant, glowing streaks. It was like paddling with glow sticks on everything in the water - an absolutely breathtaking and surreal experience. We've never seen anything like it! Honestly, Ian and DJ made this more than just a kayak tour; it was an experience we'll talk about for years. Their passion, humor, and knowledge made every moment enjoyable. If you're in Cocoa Beach, do yourselves a favor and book this sunset kayak tour. You won't regret itāit's an...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe bought tickets for the sunset tour with my boyfriend 3 weeks ago and we decided not to do it ever again. There are a couple of things I want to warn you about. First thing is thereās tons of mosquitoes in the lake where theyāre doing the tour and the warning at the internet site is not enough. Iām allergic to mosquitoes and as soon as the tour started they were biting us like crazy. Even though I told everyone multiple times that Iām allergic, the tour guide told us he had a bug spray near the end of the tour. They bite me and my boyfriend more than 15 times by the time it was over. The guide was a chill guy and he was so silent, he said he was the most relaxed guide ever but it was hard to hear what he was telling about the area most of the time. This is a one time experience for a lot of people, itās nice to be chill and relaxed but it didnāt make our tour any more fun or special. You can see the lights in the water but they are nothing like the ones in the photos, and you canāt take cool pictures of the lights because they are not visible in the light. You can only see them at night time when itās really dark and if you want to take a photo with flash they disappear, it was a big disappointment we couldnāt take any photos or videos. And thereās a part of the tour where you need to pass a forest trail literally in the island, they didnāt say anything about this part and it took nearly half of it. We were trying to pass through big leaves and trees and there was huge mosquitoes over there, it is a really tight trail and it was so hard for everyone. Since the tour guide was silent and not motivating us at all, it became harder because we had to figure out what to do by ourselves. Itās definitely not worth the money and they shouldāve told us about the bugs and that forest part...
