We made the trip up to do clear kayaking and see bioluminescence. First night we went it was pouring and lightening and they cancelled. I was called by someone from the business. I don't even think I was sitting by the right truck. That night the later trips actually got to go but we weren't offered that option. They were probably over booked. The second night in an attempt to use our rain checks the weather didn't agree with our plans again. Know that they will still go out in the rain-just not lightening. Even if the rain is 70 degree rain. To qualify for a rain check you might hope to have a pillow in the car. The best time to see the luminescence is at 11 pm. To get a rain check you have to wait a full hour until they call off the trip. We got there at 1030 and had to wait in the car until midnight before it being called off. We did get a great lightening show. My husband had already decided I would be going alone even if the trip came back on. The guide took me over to the water and waved it around so I could see the cool bioluminescence. That was nice of him.
there are about three nights a month when this is good (new moon) and about three months (jun-aug) so I feel for the business as being out two nights in a row.
We will try again next year. One of the photos was.from the first night after we made it back...
Read moreWhat a wonderful tour of the Ten Thousand Islands Conservation area at Cocoa Beach. Our large paddling club enjoyed two outstanding days of paddling with Central Florida Kayaking. Cameron, Erin, and Dan were our helpful and personable paddling guides. Cameron very effectively shared his deep knowledge of the diverse wildlife, history, and environmental setting of this area and region. His discussions were the best that I have ever heard from a paddling outfitter. The Jackson Tupelo kayaks and seats were very comfortable. The guides had cold water and bug repellent readily available when needed. In the evening, we had an amazing time witnessing bioluminescence. The bioluminescence was fantastic—better than I had expected. With every movement of the water with our paddles, nets, and hands, we would see numerous fish light-up and dart around. Our group of more than 30 paddlers were all very excited and impressed. We highly recommend Central Florida Kayaking and their keen...
Read moreWe did a two hour kayak tour with Cameron as he led us around the coastline, into little alcoves, and through mangrove tunnels. He was incredibly knowledgeable about the different wildlife and species native to the area, sprinkled in lots of fun facts, and overall was a fabulous guide who kept our tour fun and tailored it to what we wanted to see. He also had waters and sunscreen, which was appreciated, and let us talk amongst ourselves if we wanted, while he guided us around. We didn't get wet, as he pulled each of our kayaks in and out of the water, and also got me foot rests from another kayak when mine didn't have any.
This was a great way to mix it up from our usual beach days and get some time in the water - I would recommend this to anyone who wants a little more activity during their time in Florida! Such a...
