Goodness. I am not sure how much room there is to write good things- let's see.
Kara, the owner, who I see every time I go in, is an ultimate birdnerd. She is incredibly knowledgeable, excited, and passionate about helping the community through birding. Her calm and happy voice is so soothing; it's helps whether you've got an bird issue she can probably solve, somehow word vomit your birth trauma (I am working on it,) or what to know the differences of bird seed and corresponding feeders. Ive added to my supply because of her. I've changed my outlook on Bluejays because of her. If you knew me before we probably talked about how mean they are. (I am working on this too)
I enjoy and look forward to going into House Finch. Bringing my LO (age 2) is an even better treat. Kara always greets us excitedly. My LO helps pour seed into our containers (because we bring our own not only for save the planet but also their reward program). Kara encourages this and I am so excited that my LO gets to be involved and learn about it, besides if s free, somewhat mess free sensory play.
Kara recently held a 'Mason Bees' lecture in the back part of the store. I am grateful to have the opportunity to help my suburban ecosystem even more. Her presentation was well prepared and engaging. As an attendee, I will receive the digital presentation, 'bee' mails!!! For how to and when to notifications, and even a 15% discount.
I know the feed and products sold are thoughtful, intentional, and even locally curated. I want to spend my money there. I want to 'feed' the store's mission and can't wait to...
Read moreI first met Kara, owner of House Finsh, at a lecture she gave to the Haddonfield Garden Club on how to attract more birds to your backyard, specifically in our area of Southern NJ. The talk was so informative and inspiring! I already had a feeder and had done many of the things she mentioned in the lecture, but the missing link in attracting more varieties of birds was the quality of the food itself. I stopped in this week to pick up some seed and boy am I glad I did!! The store itself is gorgeous and peaceful and a visual delight. I didn’t want to leave. I’m an interior decorator and not typically wowed by most retail establishment design, but House Finch was created with so much attention to detail and LOVE! You could just feel the peaceful and joyous vibe. When we have choices as consumers on where to spend our dollars, having options like House Finch is a true gift. I encourage everyone to visit and visit often! I left with great bird seed, several gifts including a book, stickers, a nesting ball, and I will be returning soon for a gorgeous metal bird bath and of course, more birdseed! Thank you Kara and Chris for creating this amazing space for nature lovers. It’s heartwarming to support businesses and people that are part of the solution towards making this place we call home one that supports all kinds of life, including our fine...
Read moreBird/Nature lovers rejoice! This new shop in Collingswood is an absolute delight. I was very impressed with the selection of unique items they had in the store. From gardening utensils, table runners, to plant pots and coffee mugs; they had it all. What also stood out was the uniqueness of all the items. I never knew I'd be so excited at the selection of bird baths in a store, but let me tell you, House Finch has some bird baths worth getting excited about!
If you can take your eyes off all the cool stuff in the store, you will then notice the bigger draw of the store: sustainable bird seed. They have giant bins of different seed varieties that you can fill your own container up with. This focus on sustainability is one that I personally applaud and am looking forward to feeding my feathered friends without needlessly wasting so much plastic.
If you're looking for a gift for a bird/nature lover, looking to get a bird feeder, bat box, bee house, or owl box to bring some wildlife into your life, or looking to feed those cute critters in your neighborhood, you can't ask for a better store than House Finch. I stumbled onto the store strolling through Collingswood yesterday and I cannot...
