Sadly, we had such a disappointing experience here this morning. I had prepaid for my two preschool-age children, then we met my sister in law and infant niece at the Playstreet Museum ready for some fun. I also have an infant and had not prepaid for her, and we did not prepay for my infant niece since we had two paying children, and two babies. The owner, Chrissy, firmly told us that we would need to pay the $13 for my non-crawler, being held in a carrier, infant niece, as she was not a sibling of my two paying children. I asked her if she was certain she was going to nickel and dime us like that, given that we had paid for two kiddos and had two babies? She was most definitely certain and said “I’m the owner and that is the policy. I can’t be letting just anyone come in here.” Such a sad experience that left us wondering what has happened to quality customer service at the Playstreet Museum. We ended up paying $13 for my baby niece to sit on our laps or in her carrier the whole time. Needless to say we won’t be returning here, as we are lucky to have an abundance of other fun places here in Colorado Springs that won’t nickel and dime us over infants. I thought I’d include a brief list here for anyone else interested in quality experiences for a cheaper price tag (and hopefully much better customer service!) Chrissy, we are so bummed that this morning’s experiences led to a review like this, as we have enjoyed Playstreet Museum in the past. Unfortunately customer loyalty and overall experience do not seem to be a priority of your operation anymore. Fun Colorado Springs Activities for Kids! Lost Island ($6 for an hour of play indoors!) Focus on the Family (free! Great toddler area) City Rock ($20 per kiddo, BUT under 5 is free with a paying person. Does not need to be sibling!) Play Kingdom at School Crossing ($7 per session—free for infants and also not sibling-specific) Little Monkey Bizness ($15 for walkers 8 and under, $7 for crawlers, free for infants) Pikes Peak East Library (great kids play area, toddler story times, etc., all free)
Lots of options,...
Read moreThough I do agree with other reviews that's it's VERY clean and FUN interactive play with very friendly staff. I'm not sure it's a museum as much as a really great playroom with high end wood toys and blocks. Great for ages 1-5, perhaps older if siblings are there but I would think older children would lose interest as it's geared for younger age. You could have the same experience with toddlers at 21C for free. $13 is STEEP in my opinion for a 2 year old and with NO re entry and NO place inside to have a snack or lunch, we were limited how long we could stay. If retention is the goal, it's an oversight. At that price I could take my daughter to the aquarium in Denver for Free or $1 more ($14) the Denver children's museum which has 10x as much to do. And that's in a major city. It's very disappointing in a military centric area they don't offer a military discount (or the option for a membership). As many one income families in the area, I can't get behind the $13 price tag. (Including $1 snack to bribe my child when it's time to leave)
Also, I was told I couldn't bring in my stroller (because the carpet but they allow people to wear shoes inside) so I had to wake up my baby and there was literally no where to put her down or to sit comfortably to nurse her. I understand she's not in the advertised age bracket but you could easily assume in this area that families will have multiple children...
Read moreThe closest the Springs has to a Children's Museum...brought my children 8, 6 here for a playdate. I wasn't impressed. Maybe if you've never been to a large metropolitan children's museum, this might be exciting for you, but it missed the mark for us. Pros: VERY clean and tidy. Toys in working condition and didn't look shabby or overused. Various building facades that lend themselves to imaginative play. Great place if your little one is 4 or under. Cons: Lots of little bitties that could potentially get mowed over by bigger kids and due to the layout, the traffic patterns are consigned to one large area. No real place for parents to sit except the benches around the learning stations or the floor. If you are thinking of bringing the laptop here to get work done, don't. Wifi password didn't work and there is no place to spread out or set up a laptop anyway. (I was here for a playdate so my children had friends to entertain them and didn't need me to play with them.) Pretty pricey for what you get. Overall I appreciate the attempt, but based on what is available here they need to update the promotional materials to reflect ages 4/5 and under as the...
