TLDR: friendly and helpful staff but they have the same basic struggles as any other company dealing with appliances.
Ordered a dishwasher from Slyman and paid for the delivery and installation. Upon running the dishwasher for the first time there was water all over the kitchen floor. Contacted them to come back to fix it. They came back a week later looked at the dishwasher and found out that the unit itself was leaking not the connections. They said they’d order a replacement for me. That was a week ago. Just reached back out to them to find out the status and they said the dishwasher is on back order for a month.
Thankfully, their staff have all been very nice throughout this whole thing but it’s still very frustrating that they delivered a broken unit to begin with and now I have to wait another month to get a working dishwasher.
When ordering new appliance, if you pay for the installation, I’d encourage you to do a FULL test run before the installers leave. If I had done that I’d still have my old (mostly working/non-leaking) dishwasher and this wait time wouldn’t be so frustrating.
Edit: 10 minutes after posting this Google review I got a call from Slyman and they worked some magic and now have the re-installation scheduled for early next week.
Second Edit: Replacement dishwasher was delivered and installed! No leaking! Yay! This install team was even friendlier than the first, but not quite as fast/precise with the install (I had to make a few adjustments to the dishwasher's placement and put the tracks and racks in place in the unit after they left, which is not a big deal to me). Only downside is that this dishwasher doesn’t seem to dry the dishes like the first one did. Not sure if that’s a malfunction or a feature or an incidental byproduct of the poor installation - either way, I’m tired of dealing with dishwashers so I’m not going to mess with it any further and have resigned myself to just live with it....
Read moreIn-store experience was great, however, the delivery was not. We bought a washer/dryer and set a delivery date, the day comes and we were very last minute cancelled because the “dryer wasn’t on the truck” and rescheduled for the next day. We requested a 30 minute “heads up” so that one of us could be there during installation because we hadn’t moved into the house yet, they gave us a less than 10 minute window so neither of us were able to be present during installation. We moved in 3 days later and went to use the washer/dryer for the first time and the washer worked phenomenal but the dryer doesn’t heat up. We knew it wasn’t the vent because we just had all the vents, and ducts including the dryer vent cleaned by a professional company. I called on that Monday morning and they said they would send a replacement between Wednesday and Friday. Friday comes and around noon we decided to call because we hadn’t heard anything. The woman that answered the phone was rude and told us someone else would call us back. A gentleman called us back and told us that the soonest they’d be able to have someone look at the dryer and deliver a new dryer if needed was Tuesday. That delivery was great. The guys were friendly and said the dryer was a lemon and the heating element was bad. They installed a new dryer and didn’t leave until we all knew the dryer worked. We really wanted to use Slyman Brothers to replace all of the other appliances in our new home but the unreliability of what they say and inconvenience makes us...
Read moreI regret having shopped at Slyman Brothers. I wanted a family store experience and my experience wasn't what I expected. I bought a refrigerator, a dishwasher, a stove and a range hood. At first the cost seemed less than or equal to the cost if I had bought them at Lowes, Home Depot, Menards or Best Buy. Yet communication seemed to break down. For three weeks I sent out text messages asking about the status of my order. It took nearly month for my appliances to arrive. When they did arrive, the installers brought the stove, dishwasher and refrigerator -- but no range hood. That came a few months later with the improper filter for re-circulation. At one point, I asked for my money back. This was ignored and I received an appointment for an installer. The appliances themselves seemed very good. The installation was lacking. And the cost, in retrospect, was more than I expected. The salesman was at first very good, but not proactive at all. Again, almost all of the communication by email or by text message were initiated by me. I never got a good sense of what was going wrong. To be very honest, I would not shop there again. I should have done my homework and gone to big box stores, knowing...
