I am going to write this review as short as possible. First, Unbeknownst to me I dropped my Z Fold 4 while power-washing my patio & accidentally sprayed it before I realized it. It had a fully enclosed case on it, but my BT music stopped playing. I picked up the phone, it was barely wet, but it wouldn't power back on. Long story short, I scheduled an appt with uBreakiFix the day before. A female employee called my HP and w/o seeing the phone or a diagnosis quoted me $600. When she called, she didn't say they were booked and couldn't accommodate my appointment. I learned this later the next day after took an early lunch from my job, didn't get to eat, because I went there otherwise. Upon entering the store, the lobby area was empty, but an alert bell rang in back for the employees to know someone entered. A younger male came out. I explained that I had an appt. As I was talking to him, this unidentified lady started speaking loudly from the back. She started saying she was busy and could not service/evaluate my phone. The guy was only talking gibberish and not really trying to find out or determine my issue. The unidentified lady in the back was still barking out what she had to say...speaking to me (I guess) because two people were talking at the same time. He was on the verge of sending me away, when I finally got an opportunity to say "You guys haven't even heard anything I've had to say, don't know the problem, or even seem willing to accept the phone. I briefly explained my issue, was willing to drop it off, and come get it at a later date if need be. The lady in back still barking... They just assumed I needed immediate service. Anyhow, they made an assumption of repair said something of the following: The Z Fold 4 phone has two batteries one of which is attached to the screen. Sounds as if you will need a screen replacement, which will cost near $600 w/o warranty. That should remedy your issue. I said, it is not the screen... I quickly realized these people were preoccupied, unwilling to help, uncaring, and focused on something else. I said, "Hey. Thank you. I'll figure it out on my own". As I was walking out the door the unidentified lady in back was yelling out directions to the Woodlands' store. I did go to the Woodlands store, which was much better. They both were on some $600 screen replacement ish... In summary, I watched YouTube, went to Amazon & bought a kit to open the phone. I bought some silica gel packs, dry compressed air, USB port, and phone glue. I opened the phone, & although I didn't see any visible water intrusion, dried it with some q-tips, sprayed it with compress air, and ultimately let it sit in my car in the heat (not in direct sun). While waiting for some replacement parts, I put the phone in a plastic bag with silica gel packs, and waited for my parts to arrive. Once received, I replaced the parts, and before gluing to close it back up. Reconnected the battery, hit the power button, and it powered up. A total cost of $75 and some time. My phone is now working perfectly fine, & I appreciate it more knowing I did not allow this place to rip me off. uBreakiFix is broken...fix yourself first.
Owner: Why would I call you now? What? A "Test Call" to see if my phone really works (rhetorical)? I can assure you it does. My issue was when I came to your store. Not afterwards. Your response is lip service...hope others understand...
Read moreHorrid experience with 2 repairs. 1st was a simple screen change on a Pixel 6 Pro. Went in with a fully functional phone except for a small chip on the screen. Left with a new screen but on first use after leaving found the phone microphone was inoperative. Called the store immediately and said I would be back next day. Next day after 2 hours of testing said microphone or motherboard was bad but had to order parts, 1 week wait. Came back after a week (trip 3 now) and left phone -- then got a call to ask how I was paying for the repair!?!?!?! They say... we ran a diagnostic after replacing the screen that showed all good so we are not responsible. I reminded them on my second trip with the bad mic their diagnostic still showed the mic working but in use not so much. So on trip 4 to pickup the phone they would not fix from braking it unless I paid more, they also refused to have a supervisor call, that I would have to call a corporate number. In the end, Assurant, the Google Protection Service provider was completely dumbfounded by the unprofessional service and opted to send me a complete replacement phone at no charge. Moral of the story, not use this business, no concern at all for a negative customer experience.
Shortly before this experience I brought in an HP laptop that would not power on, suspected a motherboard. They had it for several days and I got word they suspect it was the motherboard but they cannot get a part. Getting into it the story changed by the minute. First the PC was "too new" so parts are not yet available for it. They insisted I contact HP for a warranty repair. Problem is I am a retired HP support executive so, um, repair person -- warranty expired a year and a half ago, and this business is listed by HP as an authorized third party repair for warranty -- so parts are indeed available, they just seemed unable or unwilling to look or procure appropriately. I found the part immediately online and shared this with them -- and they then said oh that must be from china, we are not allowed to buy from china. Well good friends, no, numerous suppliers have it in stock - so I just took the time to swap it out myself. Moral of the story, not use this business.
Your experience may vary but I can assure you mine was not so...
Read moreIf I could give negative stars, I would. I came to this location to have my computer cleaned after spilling coffee on it. Everything worked perfectly, it was just sticky and I wanted to get it clean. I dropped it off with no problems. Although, when I picked it up, the shift key was missing and 6 other keys were warped, looking as if someone had pried them off (see pictures) and barely staying on. They told me that they would replace my shift key, as they broke it off (they even acknowledged it). Then the next day, the other keys that were warped fell off of my computer as I expected. I called the store to let them know and ask them to replace them alongside the shift key. Well, when I called, they told me that the district manager had canceled the order to fix my shift key, they weren’t going to do anything about the keys, and to call corporate office. I called corporate and opened a case. Then, they proceeded to tell me that liquid damage had no warranty with repairs. I tried explaining to them that there was no damage, and I really just wanted a cleaning. They even went ahead and said that coffee is corrosive and insinuated that the damage was from it. I explicitly let them know that Coffee would not warp hard plastic in less than 10 seconds, or even at all. I clearly specified that they were pried off. They offered me a bluetooth keyboard, but nothing to fix my laptop. I denied as I want my laptop to be fixed rather than having to carry around the laptop and keyboard. I asked to speak to someone higher, but was told that my case manager was the highest person my case could go to. I am beyond annoyed and frustrated. I just want my 7 keys fixed. There appears to be no resolution in sight. Also, I still had to pay for the cleaning, at $100, and they have not offered to refund my money, at the very least. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this store to anyone. Additionally, due to my experience with corporate, I would advise going to any...
