One thing that people love is visiting old structures, places stuck in time, locations that we look at and we feel some sort of connection to the past. This is how I feel about movie theatres modern day. The idea of watching movies as a group on a huge screen is amazing, but as the years go by, it feels like theatres are stuck in the past. I went go watch Nosferatu with my partner and friends, I had preordered the tickets online for our convenience. This is when the first problem arose, a big thing companies like to do to squeeze you out of more money is a "convenience fee," which by the way, was almost as much as the cost of our tickets. When the time came, we walked in, printed our ticket at an empty kiosk, and... Well, we didn't get ID'ed or stopped to check. One can only assume if you go through the motions you can just walk in without a ticket to an R-rated film. We only got ID'ed when we bought concessions and told them we were going see an R-rated film. For a large popcorn and a drink it was around $20, another issue with these places. We might as well have snuck a fast food combo in the place for less money- would taste better too. Staff looked tired and unhappy, only saw two of them my entire stay. That's not something I'm judging the place for- nor them. I'd probably hate my life if I worked at a theatre too, one of the stars I'm giving this place is for the staff, because despite it all people have to make a living. After we get our concessions and go to our screening room, we sit through the obligatory advertisements, trailers for new movies, and.. Trivia? Trivia for random movies, as we found out one of those questions was for a movie that hadn't even released yet, we got a trailer for it about 10 minutes after the fact. It's a sad ploy for engagement or interest. What was even more depressing was the self advertising for commercial space, which is something I had never seen before. If you've seen a movie in AMC in the past few years you know that one clip of the woman talking about how emotional and inspirational AMC and movies are- for some reason for us that clip was in extremely low quality and sounded like she was talking to us through a wall. Anyhow, movie starts. Bad part? They leave the lights in our screening room on. Now, we're seeing Nosferatu, which has insane color scaling to fit the dark and moody gothic atmosphere. It was incredibly hard to watch the movie or even make out the details most of the time after the plot really picked up. Movie was good, but AMC had nothing to do with that. Anyhow, the movie ends and we go about our day. AMC is only enjoyable now if you're in right company, which is why is gets another star. It's fun to joke around at how sad and empty these places are, and enjoy a movie with your friends. I don't think this experience can be replicated, and it's sad it's...
Read moreIt was my first time going to this theater since COVID and Hurricane Ida so I was pretty excited to go! I preordered my ticket online and decided to get concessions when I arrived. I went on 8/13/22 for a 7pm showing of Bullet Train. I had no issues with scanning my ticket or the theater itself (I like the new cup holders and seats but just wish there was more space between the seats - it was kind of a tight squeeze), but the staff at concessions were immature and lack a sense of work ethic. All I wanted was an icee and while ordering, the staff was talking to each other like they are hanging out, playing around, and not paying attention. Once I paid, the cashier did not even hand me my receipt or my cup because she was too busy talking with another employee (they were play fighting and poking/hitting each other). Another staff at the other register saw I was waiting and getting annoyed, and she offered my receipt and said my cup is on the counter on the side where the staff were playing. I can tell she wanted to hand me my cup, but the other employees were in the way cause where they were talking to each other, and she couldn’t get to it. She gave me an apologetic look and knew her coworkers were being disrespectful. I smiled at her and thanked only her for her assistance even though she wasn’t the cashier who rang me up. My friend also did not get her popcorn from the cashier that was joking around with my cashier so she had to go back and get it. I just hope the owner and employees see this review and let them reflect on who they hire, and the ones already working should consider revisiting proper work ethic. I also hope the young lady that helped me when her coworkers didn’t sees this review too! You are great, and I wish I could’ve gotten your name so people could know you have awesome work etiquette! Like I said, no issues with the theater, but just the staff at the concession....
Read moreHave not been in a theater for nearly 6 years, but time has worn this place down and the parent company needs to invest in a face-lift or just close it. The outside looks nearly like an apocalypse movie. Stale popcorn. Drink area covered in spills and dried sticky residue from lack of cleaning. All you see from a distance is nearly every employee on their phones, leaning on the front counter. Stale smell, just in need of some updates or anything. Seats were basic and comfortable but no deluxe or nicer seating as some newer locations have. Bathrooms were cleaner than expected but many damaged stalls, some coming apart from walls.
Exit signs were not illuminated, unsure how fire Marshall missed that. I only spotted a door because of the sunlight coming through the sides of it.
Just blah vibes really. No one said enjoy your show like the good times. Not a single person seemed like the place or life hadn't sucked the soul right out of them.
This location has nearly no decent deals or discounts compared to other locations during times people can actually go to a movie. Concessions in general are really...
