I just grabbed lunch from Tokyo for my wife and I. I had just recently had surgery for cancer and during my post surgical healing phase I have to restrict my diet. I am not allowed to have cabbage so I politely asked if I could get only broccoli in the vegetable portion of the meal. The lady that was ringing me up and seemed to be in charge became rude as if irritated by my request and subsequently stated that the vegetables were premixed which kind of puzzled me. I didn’t push the issue for her vibe was crystal clear so I smiled and said thank you. I have traveled to many different countries in my lifetime and part of my wanderlust has been to try food from all the different cultures I have come in contact with. One such culture, which has left an indelible mark on me, is the Japanese culture, hence the name Tokyo right? Wrong, because the owners of this establishment are definitely not Japanese which really shouldn’t mean anything because anybody can learn how to cook the different foods inherent in a culture. However, my wife’s teriyaki beef and shrimp had no teriyaki sauce or flavor.
