My overall experience with California Closets was not as good as I expected it to be. The designing part with a team member was good. The product is good but the installation service they provide is absolutely not what a consumer wants. After you are committed their interest goes down. They have a 21 day change of installation policy. Our construction project was running a little behind and I called them more than a week before the installation date to reschedule. They of course went ahead an happily charged 10% of the cabinet cost(not a trivial amount). Second time around they brought the wrong room to install and did half the install and I was charged the rescheduling fee due to their mistake. Some installers were very rude. We had one trim left to install which could not be installed at the time of cabinet installation as the wall finishing was not complete. This was less than a 15 minute job for California closet people to come and nail. I requested California closets as asked them if they can come and finish it anytime. I was told that I will be charged $300 fee for that. Overall I felt that Califorina Closets installation process was very unpleasant for me and they were extremely inflexible. Also their corporate office did not do much to take care of it. I will definitely advise everyone to be careful if they decide to...
Read moreWe used CA Closets for 3 different installations. Two out of the three were 5.0 ratings; the last rather simple job was a 4.0 rating. Job 1 -- three closet installations, two of which were not simple. All came out very nice. Job 2 -- a U-shaped Pantry with counter which was a challenge, but came out really great! Job 3 -- a simple small closet, which also came out fine. However, I had a lot of left-over CA Closet materials from the old remodeled closets. I asked if we could use some of those parts in this small closet (Job 3). This would have required new shelves cut to correct length and a mounting bar. I was told that it would be easier to start fresh. The 2 side panels that I received for this closet were clearly hand-me-downs from some other job as they had a different job # on them. Shelving holes punched on both sides when only one side was needed. It is a closet and you can't see the shelving holes, but that whole scenario did not sit well with me. I found it rather disappointing. I am still working to use some of the old CA Closet materials, but I am afraid some of the 1/2 height closet panels are destined for Last Chance (whenever it opens again) or...
Read moreI was nervous about how deep I would get in to the design process before I would get a quote, but the quote came during our first meeting at my home. My designer Emi (pronounced Amy) measured not just my closet but also the lengths of my longest articles of clothing and took into account type of clothing and other items I had in drawers that I may want to incorporate into my closet space. We worked on a few designs and picked a few preliminary finishes so she could get an idea of what ranges of cost I was comfortable with. In the end the service provided along with selection of materials and options won out over Home Depot. For the 2nd closet (Hall) the bid was about the same, slightly more, but the quality I found in the care of handling my business and the quality of the materials I could see going with anyone else. I am also very pleased by how quickly the installation process went and how friendly my installer was. I have requested him (Christian) on my next install. Lastly I am vey happy knowing that I can call up California Closets to update or add on to my design in the future since they will keep my...
