The Bagel Bakery — Restaurant in California

Well, folks, buckle up for a breakfast blunder that could've been scripted for a sitcom! Walked in with a hankering for some simple bagel bliss, only to be met with the great Banana Inquisition - "Do you have a banana?" "NO." Cue the dramatic music.

I order veggie cream cheese - a staple, right? Nope, apparently, they were fresh out by 8:45 AM. Maybe it's time to scratch it off the ol' menu, or perhaps summon the cream cheese fairy a bit earlier?

Then, in a twist of fate, my sesame bagel dreams turned into an everything bagel reality. As I was mid-sentence, specifying my veggie toppings like a bagel artist, the staff decided it was their cue to exit stage left. And the masterpiece they left me with? A charcoal rendition of what once was a bagel.

Look, I get it, Saturdays are tough for everyone, but if you're in the customer service biz, a smile can go a long way. We were as sweet as the banana we couldn't have, and still, we got served a comedy of errors.

So here's a tip: if you're planning on delivering service with a side of sass and burnt offerings, might as well go full Robin Hood and give those bagels away for free. Otherwise, maybe just stick to the script and toast the bagels,...

Where should I start? Food or service?

-The food food is delicious. I’m a NJ native and the breakfast bagels are the closest thing I’ve found in the area to tri-state breakfast bagel sandwiches. Organic coffee…yes please! I recommend their food/drinks without hesitation.

What takes an eatery to the next level, beyond just good food? Great service. The employees are professional, courteous and attentive. They seem happy to be there which shows in their service. It makes it an absolute pleasure to patronize this place.

I have loved Bagel Bakery since I was a little kid, it's definitely a local's favorite. Their bagels are unrivaled in this area, and their sandwiches are one of my favorite quick lunch options. They also have delicious breakfast omelet sandwiches, ham and cheese croissants, bagel dogs, etc. And good coffee! The Monterey location also has an espresso machine.
