Came here today from 12-1pm.
I find it very interesting how people don’t seem to change. Sometimes it seems like they need a firm hand to guide them. Unfortunately I can’t always be there to make sure that everyone is respectful and that everything is kosher, everywhere I go.
The weather today was hot and it was sunny. Close to 70 degrees and almost sweating bullets, which is strange for Fall weather. I feel I must have got a deep tan because I walked so much. I’ve always felt that the warm seasons bring out the worst in people. I yearn for the weather to dip into 40s and even below. That way people might find more kindness in their hearts with the cold winter chill beating at their bones and piercing through to their soul.
The sad fact is that people are unduly cruel and dismissive when the weather is lax and warmth and heat is in abundance. There needs to be a balance of sorts, and maybe the wind is sort of a mediator in such circumstances.
I wanted to talk to more vendors, but I could not. I talked to a few but I was largely distracted by the crowds.
EatLoco markets are almost like a malignant tumor that grows inside the body. It’s exacerbated by the cruelty and unkindness of passerby and spectators.
I will say that there are other farmers markets that I enjoy more. Because some vendors at other markets are more kind and accepting of me. Here it is very hard to not get vendors to look at you like they want to hurt you.
I’ve been a victim many a time, and each time I just want it to stop. Today it was worse than it usually is, and I blame the weather for it.
‘Twas the weekend before Halloween. It was like I was in costume, seeing as how no one could look at my face, and no could meet my eyes.
I wish to impart my life to others. So that they can walk a hundred miles in my shoes, and witness how it is when no one will meet your gaze, and when everyone looks at the ground or away into the distance as they pass you buy. I wish to impart my loneliness and suffering unto others. That way they can understand why I wear an eternal frown in passing.
For now, there is no force, either natural or supernatural, that can move mountains to make this happen.
So mark my words, i yearn for the cold of winter to come. Because the biting chill will open other’s eyes and impart onto others a piece of my pain. It will chill me too, but I am one of few who is made to handle it, at least for now; others are not so blessed, and that is exactly the point.
All in all, not impressed, was not able to interact with many vendors, and I had a lot of problems with the spectators and passerby. I want to ask, why are others so cruel and dismissive? Once that question is clarified, I am more than glad to revise and even take down this review; until...
Read moreNearly all commercial fruit at the grocery store has been sitting around for weeks if not months. Some pushing a year. When you buy real apple, real carrot, real potatoes they are phenomenally delicious - and you'll realize what we eat is food like substances preserved by picking very early(with no flavor), possibly gassed and kept in super cold storage. It's necessary to feed the planet but it is no wonder we turn to dried snack foods cause that doesn't change taste over time like fresh food. The good stuff can be found at the market and with inflation hitting commercial foods hard the market is almost cheaper now... but I know some of the largest vendors are bringing in supply from around the world based on having a huge step down in taste and also availability off season. Don't just go to the stand with the longest line.... And if it seems like you are back at the grocery store something is wrong.
Look for ugly fruit, weird varies, seasonal limited availability. The less available the better it tastes, especially grapes. If it has dirt on it, pay extra.
If you can't tell I come here for the fruit and veg. Truly locally grown ripe-harvested food is a luxury and privilege I don't take for granted.
The Taiyaki stand is uniquely good.
Coffee leaves a lot to be desired... Lol. Sorry guys. I know the stands are mom and pop but they are commercial supplied. Truly fresh brewed coffee is something else...fleeting. These coffee carts guys are a syrup business. They attact buyers that will accept covering the bitter taste of commerical old coffee with syrup. That isn't quality. Fresh roast is all umami, very hard to find except in snobby populated areas usually. I think cascades market has a promising one.
Fish was better when there were two vendors. The remaining one is fine but costs too much.
I tend to avoid butcher meats and especially sausages/ground meat at markets since they tend to taste lame compared to commerical store bought.
The Italian place is pretty but too gimmicky. If you been to Italy it's nothing like that.
Quite a few gems in the mix. The bagel place won't disappoint. The dog treat vendor is unique. Organic foods are quaint buy quality.
The farmers bread is amazing at all the stands selling bread. Can't digest anything else so well.
Some flower and plant prices are outrageously high.
People look cool coming from all stages and walks of life...and it tends to be a dog show as well.
Cascades has a few more authentic veggie vendors but is much much smaller and ends practically by 11am or so. Maybe a tad more affordable too. Some of the vendors...
Read moreGreat farmers market and love that it is open until 1:00! That way we aren’t rushed Saturday morning. Nice wide variety of vendors and always look forward to having some breakfast there. Had the eggs and bacon burrito at one of the vendors which was good but the classic burrito wasn’t my favorite. The hash browns were undercooked. We usually get some of the dog food in jars (don’t recall the name) and our dog loves it. And one of the farms had great snacks for dogs too. Can’t go wrong with the veggies and other farm products. Yes a bit more pricy than grocery store but you are getting local and supporting smaller operations. I love that, and willing to pay a little more to keep these hard working folks in business! Oh and it’s better quality. Love Kyles pulled chicken and the cheesecake is awesome but it runs out usually. Gotta get there a bit early to get some. Some great craft vendors mixed as well as essential oils, CBD stuff, windows and gutter contractor, hard cider, couple of food vendors, soaps, plants... When you get to Loudoun One look for the signs directing you to the northern area just on the south side of route 7. Plenty of parking. Dogs still not allowed though due to COVID. Most people wearing masks and all vendors...
