Flagstaff Extreme Adventure Course — Attraction in Flagstaff

We drove a 5 hours round trip in order to come here & participate for all of 20 minutes. One ladder to the next. If you or your child are neurodivergent, I do not recommend this place what so ever. We came for my son’s seventh birthday, he absolutely loves anything adrenaline based and fun. We were stoked to make our way out here despite the drive due to the reviews we saw. My son is verbal, but has a hard time with understanding certain commands unless they are specific and straightforward. This is very common with autism and neurodivergence. I made this clear and told the guide he may need a bit more verbal assistance and patience. He told me the best I could do is stand on the ground and tell him what to do. This was a worry of mine prior to beginning but we decided to try anyway as my son was extremely excited and had been asking for days to try this place out.

My son was trying to get through the course with the same verbal commands thrown his way. It is clear the guide was impatient and very uneducated on neurodivergent individuals and their different needs. It was awkward and frustrating. My son wanted to keep going but the clear frustration of the staff member absolutely ruined the trip. What a waste of a day, and a ruined birthday trip for my son. 9/16 @ 2 PM. Please do better and teach your staff to as well. This could have been a wonderful day with a bit of patience, but unfortunately we felt like we were burdening your staff. My son was able to get through the first obstacle with no safety issues or assistance aside from verbal cues, so it was not an issue of safety! 😟

Reply to owner: I am glad you’re proud of your crew. This is secondary to what I am saying. Yes, as stated, he “worked” with my child. That being said, stating the same thing over and over, followed by a deep sigh, is not something you should be proud of. My son was happy to be in the trees, and stated to the worker “ I want to go again” to which he said “No, I think you guys should go get a jacket or something and try again another day”. So until you’re there, and actively seeing your employees behavior and mannerisms, I wouldn’t state you’re proud. If you are still proud after learning of this, then it’s rather embarrassing your standards for employees are so low.

May I ask what certifications or credentials/classes that have been completed by your staff members in regard to DD, SPD, & ID?

Your response about how proud you are is easily seen through, and seems to be a copy and paste reply. Learn to improve and approach replies with empathy versus attempting to undermine someone’s experience based on something you did not witness, deal with, or hear. A prime example of why your response was inappropriate: If you go to a restaurant and order a specific meal, and the incorrect meal comes out and you let the employee know and their response is “Oh yeah? Well they’re a trained chef, and I’m proud of what they made so the fact it’s not what you wanted or expected is irrelevant to me”. This is inconsiderate and irrelevant to what I stated.
