Great For Canned / Bottled Ingredients; Refrigerated Section Is Unsanitary

Hung Long is one of the best stores in Seattle for Asian cooking supplies. If you need Chinese, Korean, Vietnamese, or Filipino ingredients, they seem pretty well stocked.

Sadly, they lack a lot in the spice department and basically don't have any Indonesian or Malaysian ingredients.

I have purchased and eaten meat from the counter without getting ill; but the frozen / refrigerated sections are abysmally filthy and gross. I would never buy anything from that section, nor would I buy the fish (the tanks are filthy).

Produce is super hit or miss. Cilantro and the Asian staples are usually fresh and cheap; but some produce is rotten and moldy (bell peppers are always gross). So just go in aware of that and check everything before you buy it.

The Vietnamese baked goods are amazing when freshly delivered (perfect bánh bao); otherwise, they sit out and let the flies get to it, so -- that's kinda gross.

If you're looking for the cleanest Asian markets with the most diversity, you'll have to go to Ranch 99. Otherwise, Seafood City is the best for meat and seafood, but focuses mostly on Filipino ingredients.

Viet Wah in Little Saigon offers similar bottled and canned goods, with the benefit of having a much larger SE Asian section.

The food is cheap and more convenient than Chinatown so 2 star. but last time we were there the young female cashier didn’t want to ring up my mom. She ask my mom to go to the next open cashier even tho she wasn’t close. My mom said no because her shopping basket was full and too heavy for her to move. Then the cashier didn’t say anything to my mom, cashier took her time to ring up her purchase. She stopped several times to chat with other employees. Spent a few mins doing miscellaneous stuff all with out speaking to my mom or acknowledging her. The whole transaction took so much longer than necessary. I don’t expect much in the ways of customer service but come on my mom is an elderly person AND a paying customer. This employees petty attitude towards an older person is inexcusable. A lot of selections in convenient location. I wouldn't buy any meat product from them though. Too many times I had to throw out the meat I bought even when the packed dates were marked a day into the future... Some foul odor even when you use them immediately. I have feeling they mixed their old and new meat together and repackaged so you can't never really tell by the looks of the meat on the top. So yeah, be cautious.

But otherwise, they do have great selections of stuff. Just need to always check...
