While your loved ones are sleeping, so is South Port Square! My experience at this facility was less than enthusiastic or meaningful. From management, nurses and CNAs were mostly less than helpful, accepting or caring for their residents. Many times there were health concerns brought directly to the attention of the "assigned" nurse (could not use the word caring as it definitely did not fit). Health concerns that has landed several residents in the hospital due to oversight of staff. Nurses and management failing to report certain time sensitive issues, either brushing these types of concerns under a rug or simply just ignoring the resident issues or health concerns. Make note that if your loved one is assigned to someone (whether staff or agency) that is working a double (16 hour shift) then your loved one may or may not be left sitting in urine for the better half of the day, causing skin breakdown. Multiple resident falls. Call lights left unanswered for more than 1 hour at a time at all times during the day. More times than not the 3-11 shift leave call lights unanswered for hours on end. The 11-7 shift the staff and agency (nurse and CNA) would actually go into resident rooms and fall asleep. Nurses would bundle up in blankets and fall asleep at the nurses station. If your loved one is what a nurse considers a "handful" then they will not receive the same level of care as someone who is more independent. Often time brushing them off as "losing their mind" or "they are dying anyways." The staff members more times than not have very unethical opinions (out loud) regarding family members, considering them a nuisance and a bother to their requests.

I think parking is horrible. All the employees should park in the back on the left. There is a door they can go in. That is a long walk for visitors if you find a parking spot there. Mostly parking on the grass.

I am a courier for local medical offices and recently witnessed a despicable example of caring about their patients as I was leaving an office building where Southport was dropping off a very old and fragile woman who could barely walk, with the help of a walker! The driver took her to the front door and helped her over the threshold at the lobby of a 2 story building with roughly 15 different Dr's offices and just walked away and left her on her own.I couldn't believe my eyes as this woman is someone's loved one and this is how they treated her!I called the facility and spoke to the head of transportation (Tim )and he proceeded to tell me that this is all that the driver is required to do. I asked him what would happen if this woman would have gotten lost or even worse fallen down and hurt herself and no one to help her?His words were ,we have too many transports too be worried about that!I proceeded to call back and ask for the manager of the whole facility as I could not imagine that this treatment of residents is acceptable and was told that he (Kevin Hess) was in a meeting and would call me back after completing his meeting.24 hours later,no call back !I can't imagine if this is how they handle the residents that they take to appointments what do they do behind closed doors!I would seriously consider removing a loved one from this facility as I would be very worried about how they're being treated. I just would like to know if this was one of their loved ones would they be so quick to dismiss...

My mom was at this rehab center for two and a half weeks. During this time, she had a wound on her leg that was about 1"x2". The wound was black and crusty, it didn't look like a normal scab. I showed the wound to a nurse and told her that it didn't look right, and asked what should be done with it. She agreed it didn't look good and said she would ask the doctor to look at it the next day. My mom was told by the doctor, "It looks great, it's scabbing and healing nicely." The physical therapist would also stop at the nurses station with my mom and tell them that something needed to be done with her wound. Again, my mom was told that nothing needs to be done, it's healing wonderfully.

My mom has been out of rehab for 2 weeks and is back in the hospital due to this wound that was healing so well. The black wound that was actually a massive infection has since grown to three times the size. She now has to undergo surgery and have this place cut out of her leg or she could lose her leg from the knee down if the infection is not gotten under control. She is in unimaginable constant pain.

I don't know where the doctors that work here went to medical school, but they need to have their licenses revoked. The nurses and physical therapists are amazing and if it weren't for the doctors, this would be an amazing facility. I just don't understand how you misdiagnose a HUGE...
