We love Upper Limits in Maryland Heights! We had a large group meetup last Sunday 1.19.20. This was our third time here and we prefer it over the other two locations in St. Louis. It is the best location for rock climbing and has a decent bouldering options. We made the mistake of going to the Chesterfield location once and realized it was primarily for bouldering. The staff was very accommodating to our large group and Nicole the Marketing Director came over and introduced herself which was very nice. We love Upper Limits because it is a great indoor activity for us when the weather is bad. It is not hiking but is still very challenging, uplifting, great for team building and pushing each other out of our comfort zones! We highly recommend indoor rock climbing and this location in particular!

Great place that is very family friendly! I bring my 3 year old and 2 year old there and they have an absolute blast. The staff give them fist bumps and calls them little crushers, making me feel more at home, which can be a great relief as a parent-so much so that I can get some bouldering in while the boys have a snack at a table next to the boulder. Very flexible staff that will work with you and a great gym will all of the options.

I chose this place as the place for my 11 & 13 year olds' birthday party. We went to the West County location and I cannot say enough about the AMAZING hostess that was assigned to our group. Her name is Becca. She was simply phenomenal! We were a party of about 20. We had 14 kids; 12 climbers and a couple of non-climbers. Within the first 30 minutes she had already memorized most of the kids names. That exceptional talent was extremely appreciated as we had so many kids climbing at once. We had our own roped off area and were alloted 2 hours to play. Honestly the overwhelming majority of the kids wanted to climb the entire time, but for those who ran out of steam after about an hour, Becca devised some games and activities that they could participate in while the rest of the party climbed. There were 4 auto belays within our section, but we were offered the opportunity to learn how to belay the kids. One other parent and I were given instruction and it was a blast as well as a workout to be able to be actively engaged with the kids. The kids really enjoyed the climb and even the most hesitant of them was made to feel welcomed and comfortable by our wonderful hostess Becca. We had a wide range of ages from 2 years old to 14 year olds. Each one felt important and recognized as Becca cheered them on from the bottom of the wall calling them by name. That portion was sufficiently worthy of praise. I figured we would be shown to the party room for our final half hour and that would be the end of it. Not so! Becca stayed with us the whole time helping to serve the food, to clean up, to pass out cake, and she even offered to jot down the "Thank you" card list. She was amazing. I have 6 children and this was by far the easiest birthday party that I have ever had for my children. We all had a great time with zero stress and tons of hospitality for an incredibly reasonable price. I don't know that all of the hosts and hostesses will be equally outstanding at any of the locations, but Becca was hands down an important part in delivering an amazing experience for the entire family. ...

Incredible Climbing Experience, but intriguing, sweet Olfactory Experience as Well

I recently had the pleasure of visiting this rock climbing gym, and I must say, it exceeded all my expectations in terms of facilities, staff, and overall climbing experience. The gym's dedication to providing a top-notch climbing environment is truly commendable. However, there was one peculiar aspect that left me puzzled – the unmistakable smell of syrup that permeated the air.

Let's start with the positives. The climbing routes were diverse and challenging, catering to climbers of all skill levels. The walls were well-maintained, providing an optimal surface for gripping and scaling. The gym had a wide array of equipment available for use, including harnesses, ropes, and belay devices, all of which were in excellent condition. The staff members were friendly, knowledgeable, and always ready to offer guidance and assistance. Their passion for climbing was contagious, making the entire experience even more enjoyable.

Now, onto the syrupy aroma. While it didn't detract significantly from my climbing experience, it was an odd and unexpected presence. I couldn't help but wonder why the gym smelled like syrup. It wasn't overpowering, but it lingered in the air, creating a somewhat unusual ambiance. Perhaps there was a nearby café or restaurant that specialized in syrup-based dishes, but the scent seemed to seep into the gym.

Despite this minor quirk, I wouldn't let the syrupy scent discourage anyone from visiting this exceptional climbing gym. The overall experience, facilities, and friendly atmosphere outweighed this peculiar olfactory anomaly. Whether you're a seasoned climber or a novice looking to embark on a new adventure, this gym offers an ideal environment to pursue your passion for rock climbing.

With everything said, if you're seeking a remarkable rock climbing experience, this gym is a stellar choice. Just be prepared for a subtle hint of syrup in the air, which may pique your curiosity but won't hinder your...

Updated: A manager finally got back to me and worked with me on how to resolve the issue below. They were able to offer a payment plan to pay back the months they were charging the wrong card and they refunded me the bulk amount. I was quite frustrated with the billing hiccup, but the person I worked with to resolved was empathetic, understanding, and professional. So I am again updating my review.

Updated Review: I have nothing to complain about the facilities of this location; however, I have a serious complaint regarding the management. I signed up for the yearly membership, to be charged a monthly fee instead of up front. I have not received any notifications of failed payments nor was I informed by the staff of any issue with my account every time I used the gym and scanned my membership barcode. However, yesterday, without any warning or notification, I was charged $500+ dollars for my membership fee because I was apparently not being charged for my membership even though I signed a contract agreeing to be charged monthly for the membership. I have tried to call in multiple times to discuss this matter, but I keep getting informed that management is busy and will call me back. This whole affair is woefully unprofessional and has been mismanaged to a severe degree. I will likely not be renewing my membership after this experience, unfortunately.

Original Review: I recently did the 4-week class with instructor, Faith. I am very glad I took this class because there is a lot more that goes into this sport than I originally anticipated! With these instructions I feel much more confident, safe, and knowledgeable (indoor rock climbing can be quite intimidating at first!), and I look forward to taking what I learned and continuing to hone my...
