Waterside Place — Attraction in Sarasota

My husband made a reservation for our anniversary tonight. We had a bottle of wine and a dozen oysters for an appetizer. Oysters showed $26 a dozen on the menu. The waitress asked which ones we preferred and we couldn't decide, she said she would bring all three PEI oysters in the dozen. Oysters were delicious. I ordered the king crab for $66 which came in a cluster the size of snow crab and was overcooked, it could literally be folded in half without cracking the shell. My husband ordered the stuffed hogfish. He didn't finish the fish. Crab cake was great but that's all it was, a cooked crab cake placed inside two fish filets like a sandwich. The fish was supposed to be broiled and appeared boiled and was rubbery. He literally picked up a whole filet with his fork and it stayed together like a piece of cardboard. I asked him if we should say something and he said no as he didn't want to make our anniversary worse with negative confrontation. We asked for the bill and the waitress asked if we wanted dessert. We replied no as we are not hungry anymore and she stated "you can get it to go on us for your anniversary". I love carrot cake so I said sure, the carrot cake to go please. We gave her our card when she brought the to go cake. Never saw her again. The check had our $26 oyster as $48 because we were charged individually for each oyster instead of as a dozen. The carrot cake which was on them was $16. We looked for a manager and our waitress with no luck and left very disappointed in the quality and ethics of this establishment. We've been waiting forever for Waterside to open and it has not disappointed. Well, okay, maybe the new restaurants could get done sooner rather then later but I get it. Good Liquid serves great portions and the beer is always cold and fresh. Koré Steakhouse has fantastic options on their menu and the owners couldn't be more nicer. 3Form Fitness is a great gym (I personally belong to this gym)they offer the latest programs for strength, endurance, and much much more. Crop Juice has the freshest food and juices. Don't forget to visit Fresh Provisions! Cool merch and a nice small bar in the back with cold IPA's. We anxiously await the new restaurants, like Forked (about to open very soon) Agave, Osteria 500, and Deep Lagoon Seafood & Oyster House. The Sunday and Wednesday Farmers’ Market at Lakewood Ranch Waterside connects local farmers and artisans with tourists and locals. Corn-hole Leagues and local small businesses set up their booths and tents to serve everything from food, to arts and crafts. The water views are spectacular. Sunsets here give you postcard moments. I recently returned to at a delightful Mexican restaurant called Agave Bandido and I must say, it was an absolute delight! The staff, Jamie, Nick, Bree, Eli, Whiteny and Andrew are truly amazing. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with warm hospitality and a vibrant atmosphere that set the tone for the evening.

The menu offered a wide variety of traditional Mexican dishes, from flavorful tacos and enchiladas to a mouthwatering tuna tower and sizzling fajitas. Everything was prepared with fresh ingredients and authentic flavors that truly captured the essence of Mexican cuisine.

The bar is fully staffed, and delievers the most amazing drinks. The friendly staff are attentive, out going without being intrusive. If you are unsure of a cocktail, they will mix you an over the top margarita tailored to your taste buds.

Overall, I highly recommend Agave Bandido to anyone looking for a taste of Mexico right in the heart of the Lake wood ranch. It has set the bar high for other “Mexican” restaurants in the area. The food, atmosphere, and service were all top-notch, and I can't wait to go back for another...
