Bastendorf Beach is one of my favorite state parks. The beach is known by many as being the beach you can let your dogs run on. There are a lot of families and dogs that enjoy this beach so please make sure your pup has social skills, also PLEASE don't forget to bring some bags with you to clean up anything your dog may leave behind.

The beach is very wide and flat after you get over the small raised portion by the parking lots. It is very walkable, and I'd estimate it to be 3/4 of a mile each direction, so a round trip walk on the beach will net you 1 1/2 miles of steps!

You will also encounter some pretty cool exposed tide pools when the tide is out. They will usually have bright purple or orange starfish left behind by the receding water as well as some small fish and crabs.

There are bathrooms located in the second parking lot and also in the last parking lot, which is down near the jetty. There are also some groves of trees that have trails lined with tons of moss and some sea grasses to walk on near the parking lot. There are also some sand roads that are at times open to 4 wheel vehicles. The best access to those roads is in the last parking lot down by the jetty. Vehicles of any kind are NOT permitted down on the actual beach, and citations are handed out if you are caught with a vehicle down there.

During surf season, some good waves can be caught here, and a large influx of surfers will provide you with the visuals of that if you are not a surfer yourself.

Enjoy your time at Bastendorf Beach, which is a perfect place for any member of the family to have an enjoyable time. The beach hours vary with the seasons as it's open from dawn until dusk 7...

Used to be such a nice beach area to go to. I live less than a mile from there. And I don't go anymore! Not even when the surf is up. (well up for here that is!) The homeless issue has gotten so bad. That there is now a curfew in place. (Sundown, you gotta leave). And there is no overnight camping anymore. We used to be able to access the beach anytime we wanted. And camp overnight as well. NOT ANYMORE!! Park rangers will find you and kick you out. And probably issue a fine for you. And call law enforcement if you offer any sort...

Help! I lost my phone on the beach either yesterday or today (11/19/22 or 11/20/22 😭). It's a pixel with a gray case. If you found it, please message me. Aside from that... It's a nice clean beach. I often see people surfing and jet skiing. People often have their dogs off leash and don't control them so be careful if you don't want your dog or...

Bastendorff Beach is definitely a place to visit if you’re not from Oregon, or just a local. The beach is spectacular, with sand and seashells surrounded by the vast trees and terrain nearby. Being able to go up and touch the saltwater was a new experience for me. Considering I don’t live anywhere near the ocean, this beach offered more insight on life.

Beautiful Beach to visit near right on the cusp of Coos Bay! Whether you're here to take a stroll, take a dip, walk the dog or just sit back, admire and watch the sunset.....you won't be disappointed! Take a hike adventuring through the "secret" cave if you like hiking and have time. Well worth the drive to visit this beach!
