This dog park is a great size on both sides. Having it divided was a really great idea! The pet stations with the bags to pick up after your dog is always full but not everyone picks up their dogs waste. On Monday’s when they are closed, I suggest they not only pick up the dog waste but always treat the grounds and benches, basically everything in the dog park. The biggest downfall is NO lighting at night, when lighting should be a top priority especially since the park is open until 10pm and the location of the dog park. Being open that late is so great for many of us that aren’t able to go at earlier times in the day. When I was there with my daughter and our dog and no one else was there one night, a car parked next to mine and someone got out of that vehicle attempting to open my car door, which was locked. When I started yelling at them asking what they are doing and then starting to approach them, 3 other people got out of that car and started approaching us, I was terrified. Not only did my dog start barking and growling at them, which is not normal, but luckily another vehicle was driving up and they went back to their car and left. We decided to give it another try and that time, a vehicle was constantly circling the parking lot area. We do not feel safe enough to go back until there is bright security lighting installed. This dog park really needs some good lighting, bright security lights especially due to the location. There are NO lights at this dark park and it is in a location that is needed the most. There are so many people that have reported the lighting issue and nothing has been done. There was actually 2 sensor lights removed, which never actually worked anyways. There is no lighting at all. We went by tonight to check on the lighting and it was pitch dark and open but didn’t stop. The person in the park with their dog was having to use their flashlight on their phone. With better clean up and treatments to the entire park area, but most of all the security lights would make this the #1 dog park in Corpus Christi, no doubt about it. Pleassseeee make these upgrades so we and many others can enjoy this dog...
Read moreI hadn’t had a chance to come check it out until now. Pleasantly surprised as I’ve lived in CC all my life and played soccer as a kid @ these fields. I thought it was great. Came on a Monday evening. Wasn’t closed like another post had mentioned. When we got here there were about 6-8 large dogs. We came with my 8 yo Chocolate Lab and 6 month old GSP. Within the first 5 min. I kid you not, EVERY SINGLE PERSON & THEIR DOGS LEFT!!! Sorry our boy is just a pup; all the other dogs were being dogs, no big deal - Asserting alphas, no harm done to my dogs or theirs. Coincidence? Ironic? Maybe, maybe not. Regardless, we will be back tomorrow evening to tire our Pointer out before his puppy...
Read moreClean, grass kept well cut, has a nice shaded bench area, has water fountain with adult, child, and dog levels, multiple metal water bowls around park, dog waste station, hooks by gate to hang leashes, doubled gated entry for safety, and has 2 separate fenced in areas for small or large dogs.
Only thing I would recommend and think would be helpful is a bin of some kind to hold dog toys and balls. Many owners bring extra balls to share but they get cleaned up (presumably thrown away) on Monday when the park is cleaned. Perhaps a bin could help us keep the toys in order and save them for other dogs who want to...
