I stopped by here before work each day just to watch the ocean and have a snack. It's really windy on the pier so make sure your hats and sunglasses are attached. People fish a lot from the parking lot and off the pier. There's a trail that appears to go from the Selena Memorial to the memorial to the innocents on the other end. There's no shade along the trail for most part so make sure you wear sunscreen if you're fair-skinned like I am or bring a hat. There's some beautiful sculptures along the paths which is probably about 3 Mi long from start to finish but I can't guarantee that since I didn't actually walk the whole thing. Nice place to bring the kids there's a park and a water fountain nearby that squirts water up for the kids to run through. There's always a nice breeze. Plenty of parking and remarkably clean since most people seem to take care to put their trash in the proper receptacle. The birds are a bit of a nuisance if you're eating anything outside they sometimes snatch it right out of people's hands! All in all it was an enjoyable diversion while I...
Read moreI was here a year ago...WHAT HAPPENED? Falling apart is an understatement. When driving in I was excited to see that a splash pad will be opened at this park later. OK...but with the state that the playground is in...you are building a new area? I'm certain that the park planners had a clear idea of what they were installing and there's an obvious attempt to "patch" the rubber tiles that are breaking and being spread apart. Even a year ago they had places being "patched" by the swings. At this point you'd think they'd give up and redo the flooring. Even the ground up rubber mulch they had years ago would be better. I'm not that person, but I know SOMEONE is, that's going to trip and fall because of the state it's in and give the City a hard time. I sincerely hope the pier hasn't fallen in the...
Read moreThis pier is almost too nice. We went on a Friday night it was crowded not just with fisherman but also with pier walkers. There were easily I many folks there without fishing gear as with. The pier itself is nicely built. Very sturdy, nice and wide with plenty of built in tables and chairs. It's obvious that they keep the pier clean as it wasn't covered in a layer of seagull poop like most fishing piers, in fact it is incredibly clean. It's a great spot for a picnic if not too windy. The covered areas give you a nice escape from the summer sun. While we were there the winds were up and fishing was poor. Nothing was being caught except the occasional pinfish. I can see the pier as a good spot for summer trout fishing or winter drum but it was dead when we were there. I'll be back to give it...
