The Indian Seats hike is a fairly easy hike that isn't too far and not very difficult. The parking lot was neat and tidy and the bathrooms were also very clean. One thing you should know is that there are no dogs allowed on the hiking trail. The actual view was not that great in my opinion. You can see pretty far but the main thing to look at is the valley which is just a bunch of trees and buildings dotted hear and there plus a land fill off in the distance. The landfill isn't to bad though lol. My group and I only hiked up and back down but there are a lot more trails that go along the mountain the we did not explore. One thing you should know is that there are a lot of spider on the hiking trail and in that area in general. They definitely won't and cant hurt you but they are very big and are yellow. They are called Joro spiders and their webs are a weird yellow color. They came from China a few years back and the local population has exploded. There was even a guy with a camera who was documenting them for The...
Read moreWe hiked today at Indian seats trail at Sawnee mountain. It took us nearly 30 minutes driving to arrive. Parking is free. There are several trails but we chose the longest trail - Indian seats trail - 3.5 miles. We walked up the mountain on the dirt trails with rocks and lots of dry leaves. It is roughly 1 mile to go up to the top. It is such beautiful views. We sat at the top watching the city, then we walked downhill to make a circle around to come back to our parking lot. It is quite difficult when going up the hills - but only about 1 mile. The rest are quite easy. The weather was in the 50 -60s today so I brought the jacket but didn't have to use it. Only one sweat shirt was fine for me (I am cold nature though). It is the best to dress in layers. It took us about 1.5 hours - about 10000 steps to walk the whole trail. No pets are allowed at the trails. This is my first time hiking here but it is the second time for my hubby and my kids. There are quite a lot of people coming here today too. We will definitely...
Read moreBeautiful trail. Moderate 1.5 mile hike up. Family and kid friendly. I see school age kids on the hike (with their parents of course..duh right) Stunning views anytime of the year. Oh and there are No Dogs allowed on trail (I found out after an hour drive with my dog 😬 so if you're reading this before driving here with your fur baby you're welcome 🙃 )
There's a few great spots to just sit and enjoy the view. Hence the name right. And well theres also a viewing deck if you prefer that.
Lots of nature and birds. Not usually too much of a crowd so it's pretty serene. I'd recommend this as a couple's hike and picnic date. And of course there's a lot of gorgeous photo ops.
