Wow! I don't know where to start! We've come to the Black Hills many times as a family before but have never ended up at Legion Lake. We were actually here twice for our two week stay in the hills. My brother and law and I the-hiked the Centennial trail and we came right by this place on our second night. They were sold out, but someone cancelled right as well walked in so we were able to stay and get a wonderful little cabin and shower after a 17 mile day. Nedra was our front desk hostess. She was wonderful and so thoughtful. We bought some cold drinks and she went to the back to also give us some free ice. We ended up putting our sore feet into that ice and it was such a blessing! Thank you Legion Lake staff for being so friendly to thru-hikers! Your lake and resort falls right along a beautiful trail and your were an oasis for a first time hiker! We came back a week later to pick up some things I had left behind (this is common of first hikes as you always carry more than you need and figure out in the first couple days what you need to get rid of). Reluctantly she agreed. I tipped her for literally handing me 2 bottled drinks. Went outside. After 30 minutes i needed to see my phone screen for a rental so I went back in, took a corner spot for maybe 3 minutes when i was asked to leave for paying guests......of course I said something and was thrown out. I NEED A REFUND....terrible customer service! DISAPPOINTED AND BASIC...
Read moreWe loved our Legion lake experience. We stayed in the cabin. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Cabin was very nice, everything worked inside. Walking distance to the lake. Lots of places to explore and rocks to climb. This lake is a lot quieter than some of the other so it's nice for kids and to do water activities (kayak, SUP, fish, swim, etc.) without being too crowded. The kids are already talking about wanting to stay...
