At first glance, Lake Highlands Park seems like a great place to relax and enjoy nature, but BE WARNED this park is heavily patrolled by Dallas Marshals who are waiting to ticket visitors for even the SMALLEST infractions, with NO discretion or empathy.
I stopped here during a road trip to let my dog stretch her legs. I had barely been at the park for two minutes before two Marshal vehicles aggressively approached me. Sargent Cisneros and another officer immediately demanded my license because my dog was off leash. I had no issue providing it, but it was in my truck, and they refused to let me retrieve it.
I’m not from Dallas or even Texas and was unaware of the park’s specific regulations. I tried to explain my situation, but they had zero interest in listening. I apologized, leashed my dog immediately, and hoped for a warning, given that I had just arrived. Instead, they had already written the ticket before I could say much of anything. To make matters worse, they also issued me a parking violation because my truck supposedly didn’t fit within the lines. This was despite the fact that I wasn’t blocking anyone, and there were at least 15 open parking spaces available. What truly shocked me was how unnecessarily escalated this situation became. They called in even more Marshals, and by the end, there were four or five Marshal vehicles on-site for nothing more than a dog off leash and a “parking violation” It was excessive, a waste of resources, and an unpleasant experience. If you plan on visiting this park, be extremely cautious. The Marshals here are not focused on fair enforcement or public service they are lurking, waiting to issue tickets with zero flexibility. What should have been a peaceful visit quickly turned into a frustrating and disappointing ordeal. I will never be...
Read moreMy girlfriends son, Jordan Wander, plays rugby for the Austin Blacks. They were in town playing the Dallas rugby team and this was the venue. Even with all the rain we have had, the field stayed in tact and no excessive standing water for the fans or players to navigate. Bleachers have been installed and we're large enough for both teams fans. I was pleasantly surprised. Was a great place to watch some rugby! ...

There was visible security that drove through at least once during the one hour that i visited. The visitors were quiet and abiding the park rules. The grounds were nice and clean. I'll certainly go again really soon for some peace and quiet and...
