Nice design. Started at the western end and saw so many varieties of oaks. We had no idea there were so many, and we still would not if they hadn't taken the time to mark them; and not with little metal stakes or tags. No, the markers in this part of the arboretum were talented art installations of ceramic on concrete. Then we went on around the pond. All the other plants are marked, though not with the same flare. Altogether we walked 2.5 miles, but we could have walked further. At the eastern end of the pond is a "creek." At that point there is a bridge that we didn't cross, and there are more as the path meanders along the water. The bridges are located frequently enough that if one begins to regret not crossing over at the last one to begin the return to their car, there will be another coming along soon thereafter. It made a beautiful...

Capturing engagement sessions and quinceanera pre-event sessions at the UC Davis Arboretum is a photographer's dream! This place offered an enchanting backdrop that perfectly tells the story of the day. Diverse landscapes, vibrant gardens, and serene pathways provided an amazing canvas, allowing me to create captivating images. Whether it was the soft sunlight filtering through the trees during the engagement session or the vibrant bursts of color in the gardens during the quinceañera pre-event session, every shot felt like a work of art. Here are some of my favorite quince pre-event sessions and engagement shoots I had the chance to capture at the UC...

As a relatively new resident of Davis, I have just started volunteering at the Arboretum and have helped out at the teaching nursery after their recent online sale. The nursery is not open to the general public all the time but they do have online plant sales a number of times a year. If you become a member or volunteer, you get special concessions. Check out the Arboretum web page for details. The nursery is a great source for plants that grow along the Arboretum and in the various arboretum gardens throughout Davis and the UC Davis campus. Taylor is a font of knowledge and very helpful, which is great for me as a new Californian. Highly recommend...

Totally great place to spend a morning or afternoon, or the whole day. Plants, trees, and flowers that you won't see often unless you do a lot of world wide traveling. My wife and I spent the afternoon stopping and gawking at the wonderful plants. We were here on the 21st of November and the fall colors were also glorious. A fun place to use an app to help identify flowers and leaves. The only drawback was the lack of bathroom facilities and drinking water.
