Spent so long trying to figure out the parking. I didn't have time to even go in the arboretum like I planned. I called ahead of time, and downloaded the amp parking app. I was told if I had trouble once there just go to headquartersfor help. I went in there was told to park in any C lot. did that but that was for all day not hourly as I needed. So then I called the parking department they told me the amp doesn't do hourly. . By then I was hungry, got something to eat and tried to renew or pay for parking and couldn't do it. So I left without even going in the arboretum. The parking sucks. It's not user friendly. Very confusing and so frustrating. There's got to be a better way for visitors to go to the arboretum. I had waited for years to be in...

The walking trail for the UC Davis Arboretum and Public Garden starts at the parking lot of the Davis Commons Shopping Center. It’s a great place to talk a walk before or after eating at one of the great restaurants at the Davis Commons Shopping Center. There is a paved trail that leads you along Putah Creek that runs through the UC Davis campus. You should be able to walk to the UC Davis Arboretum within a mile or so. It’s a peaceful place to walk, ride your bike or walk your dog. You will see plenty of wildlife and various plants/trees along your walk. My chief criticism is the cleanliness of the water (which I know everyone is working on) with the algae / cyanobacteria growth and polluted runoff. However, it still houses a population of turtles, ducks, and the occasional otter (really cute!).
