Winneshiek County Fair — Attraction in Decorah

We are visiting from New York and love this little county fair! There are several little shops and displays if you want to pick up a souvenir. A couple "carnival style" food booths if you're craving some grease and batter, or much more reasonably priced local booths with great homemade food. Admission to the fair is free, but the $35 Grandstand button (admission to all shows, all week) was well worth the investment, especially if you live nearby. Parking is also free, although there's no real lots (other than handicap parking), so sometimes it's a bit of a walk. A few rides and games for the kids to check out, but much nicer (and cheaper!) to focus on the barns...

I thought the food selection was extremely poor this past 2019 summer. When I think of fair food I think of food trucks and lots of booths, but I think I only saw 3 options. I also usually enjoy walking through the animal barns and I felt like there were no animals either! Just felt very disconnected. I really enjoyed Josh...

The fairgrounds support many a local event, but the actual fair itself is not my cup of tea. The location is small, so the fair ends up being really cramped. That's probably my biggest complaint. They try to squeeze to much into a small area, but there's still not much for an adult...
