Surfside Race Place — Attraction in Del Mar

I loved attending the 2017 Breeders Cup race at Del Mar racetrack. A first for Del Mar, there were some issues regarding sufficient seating availability ( You have to buy chairs but they ran out early) poor placement of television screens ( The Sun was shining directly into the screens making it almost impossible to see the screen) insufficient bathrooms( The primary ladies Room had only 5 toilet stalls that were working), Sufficient tram services from parking 2 main entrances( it was about .5 mile from uber drop to entrance to infield tunnel entrance, then at least .25 mile to GA viewing location) and worst of all, departing was an absolute nightmare.

We had taken lift into the parking lot and walked as discussed above. When it was time to leave we walked about a mile to get into the line for lyft and Uber. Then we waited an hour without moving an inch, nor did the private cars attempting to exit. Finally we found out that there were no Uber drivers available. We personally called and connected with a Lyft driver who had been stuck in the lyft/uber lot for 1.5 hours, and we made our way to him and successfully exited parking lot in about 35 minutes thereafter ... much sooner than the hundreds of people still standing in the Uber lines.

It was a wonderful event, but marred by these matters of courtesy that we have come to expect. Especially when infield tickets were over $150 each... cheapest available yes. But I worried about my daughter, a chemotherapy patient, my 8 month pregnant niece, and my 70something guest being on th fir feet so long.

I'm sure Del Mar will do...

I was one of the lucky 10 that got invited by Trish for the CMYE event for the Breeders Cup! It was my first time in the Surfside building and it was so great! It was cool Vegas style betting with screens at every turn! Gambling people are a special kind of people. The energy is buzzing and people are cheering when they win, cursing when they are loosing and drinking all the way in between!

Our hostess/waitress was so nice and made sure that our needs were met with drinks and food which is always appreciated.

They will be closing for a bit to remodel and gave us tickets to come back so I am super stoked to go back on December 3rd and check out...
