this place is great. i cannot stress enough that i genuinely think this place is amazing to go to & i go often. i love steak, especially for breakfast, so my favorite thing to do is grab a book & pull up. i always order the dutch steak & eggs with an extra side of potatoes & a coffee & sit outside to read. sometimes i swap the dutch steak out for a nicer cut like filet mignon. the ambience is nice because it’s rarely packed in the morning & the music isn’t blaring outside so i can still tune it out to read & eat.
unfortunately there’s one huge issue with the way the order gets rung up. some employees ring up the order by substituting out the dutch steak & adding whatever cut i ordered, which seems normal. other times though, i get a worker who doesn’t know how to do what i ask & they ring it up however they think it should be done. it ends up causing super inconsistent prices & it gets to a point where i’m over explaining to whoever the cashier is for the day that they’re doing it wrong. the last time i came in, the cashier rung up each individual item that comes with the steak & eggs & charged for each one. i couldn’t even say anything because i was so dumbfounded by that decision & i never even know how much my order is supposed to cost anymore because they all do it differently, so i just paid & walked away because i still wanted to enjoy my day. i shouldn’t have to keep explaining to people how to ring up orders correctly, or at least the way the manager (i think he’s the manager?) rings it up.
again, this place is incredible & it has huge potential to blow up even more. i’ll never not come back because i won’t find anywhere else to give me what this place does. but please, whoever runs this place needs to have a conversation about...
Read moreBest dinner of the year! AND we eat out every night, so saying this was the best dinner this year... that's saying something. Came here last night for a date night. We have been a few times previously. My wife wanted the surf and turf for two. So, that's what we ordered. At $60 it seemed like a bargain. It featured ribeye steak, crab cake, cauliflower, green beans, rainbow carrots and garlic mashed potatoes. It was served with sides of remoulade, bearnaise and demiglaze. First off nothing was pedestrian about this plate of food. I have no idea what kind of green beans they were. They were long, flat and wide. Kind of like a Lima beans in its shell, but tender and sweet. There was cauliflower that had bright white tops but green stems. Never seen that before. Carrots were rainbow colors. The steak was seasoned perfectly, maybe had even been brined. Tender to the point I didn't need a knife. The star of the show was the demiglaze. Literally the best I have ever had. So good that I asked the chef if he made it himself. I was disappointed to find out the answer was yes. I was hoping it was something that I could procure from some specialty shop. But no. Only a chef with extreme pride in the craft would go to all the effort to make a demiglaze like that. That same pride echoed throughout the plate. The mashed potatoes as included. Not too rich or fat laddened, yet full of flavor and a perfect accompaniment to the veggies and the steak. We ended up having an apple crisp for dessert. It came straight from the oven with a big scoop of creamy vanilla ice cream. It gilded the lily. Everything was amazing. And, I got a small amount of demiglaze to go. In the end, I found the specialty shop I was...
Read moreWas super excited to try Ranch 45 but was very disappointed with my experience — importantly, the indoor seating at the restaurant is currently closed due to renovations and only serving food to go (the restaurant should post this on their website, as we would have rather waited to visit until they were fully open, as their outdoor seating is right alongside the road and we typically avoid to-go ware to minimize waste).
Further, the cashier did not tell us when we ordered our food that we would need to come and collect it from the counter inside when it was ready (we thought they would bring it outside, as they do have outdoor seating). We then waited for about 30 mins before someone realized that people might not have known they needed to come in to collect their food (notably, we had provided our name but were never called), at which point we (and about five other groups of people who had gotten there before us) were asked to collect our food.
The food was delicious but it was very disappointing for my partner and I to have driven 30 mins and paid $60 for a nice breakfast out, only for it to be cold and eaten from a to-go container on the side of a busy road. I was also surprised the restaurant didn’t offer any sort of compensation for the inconvenience, as this was clearly a mistake...
