Well, never actually been inside, briefly pulled in the parking lot once or twice when leaving the house I have been working on, (on and off), cause the pathway that leads you on Forest Ave has a steep bump and tends to loose my trailer hitch when exiting. There always seems to be a couple of cops in the parking lot when I arrive at work as well as when I leave work so its good to see Des Moines Police Dept keeping the neighborhood safe. It is located 2 properties down from my jobsite and I even remember seeing a homeless man pacing in the snow when I was packing up my tools to head home one evening. I was going to offer assistance when I got everything loaded in my trailer but I didn't see him anymore. I feel sad about the situation because the next day it was in the local news feed that a city plow driver stopped and used a PortaPotty and found the man dead, frozen solid, just trying to stay warm. He was a Hispanic male, homeless, in his mid thirties. Sadly, the news article mentioned a brief funeral with only a couple of people showing up. I wonder why the world has to be this way. If it weren't for all the weeks on the roads, those cops would have probably been there and saw him to give him help. It was a sad event, but as far as the library goes, it always looks clean outside and there is a park for the kids to play at and help keep them...

It's a small library, but well built, comfortable, and my son and I enjoy going there very much. The sports/park complex next to the library is also a clean place that's perfect for young people to exercise and keep out of trouble during the summer months. The Forest Library and areas around are something to be proud of and grateful for in a poorer...
