Platinum Kutz BarberShop — Attraction in Des Moines

Alright I usually, wait few months to post a review of a barbershop, that being said I got a haircut back in February. Men when I tell you I never felt more confident with a receding hairline! Robert knows what he is doing, he brought me back to the funk era with the haircut style he gave me! I was getting compliments left and right! They treat you like family there, if you're a person of color and like the culture and vibes of a "Black Barbershop" this is it. Amazing people, amazing customer service, I was very impressed with how much effort and time they put into people hairs, instead of these big corporation haircut shops, where they just quickly do it as fast as they can to just make a quick buck and then move on to the next customer waiting to get their hair mangled.

I believe Platinum Kutz/ Platinum Signature can truly take over the whole state of Iowa with true quality haircuts and barbers who are ACTUALLY happy with what they are doing for a living or just a side gig.

Wish there was an option for rating a “zero star”. I called in ahead of time to make an appointment, I was told I don’t have to just walk in. Showed up… all the barbers were busy at the moment but not too long after they were done! I was sitting for over 30 mins. No one ever approached me to even say hi or have the courtesy to ask what service I needed. Some of the barbers could just finish and sit on the chair using their phone. Some would just leave to go outside! Mind you all this time no one had even said hi. They would just pass by and stare on their way out. After around 45 mins of no one seeming to care, we decided to get up and leave! They all just looked at us and STILL did not say a word!! Very unprofessional and not acceptable. This is not how you treat customers. It’s better you tell me you’re not able to do it and I go about my business. Than wasting my time and gas driving all the way there just to be treated...

Overall I've known this place for its quality. Today I got 3 burns/cuts, uneven lineup, and my 10am appointment finished at 1130. This place used to get me out looking and feeling right in 30-45 minutes. I understand people need to learn somewhere. But after this I asked how much I owed him. He said 35 I gave him 40 no problem for his services. Personally I wouldn't charge or would have atleast offered up a reduction. THANKFULLY having been there for over a hour I got to watch Maya cut 2 peoples hair quickly and with grace. Unfortunately I will have to become more picky with who cut me from there.
