Incredible 1923 Gothic/Tudor styled mansion with features imported from England, including the White Cliffs of Dover, 1600s German statuary, English wood beams, stone fireplace, and stones from Greece. The 28,000 foot mansion is home to art and historical pieces such as: suit of armor, tapestries, European paintings, religious art, sculptures, a Buddha statue, Native American art, original furniture, a vase from Cyprus dating to 1000 BCE. Gorgeous gardens. Interesting history on the Weeks family wealth and the Armand cosmetic business that they started. Impressive art collection that symbolizes Edith Weeks’ vast knowledge of history and art. Beautiful old growth woods, outdoor spaces for music festivals. Knowledgeable docents that can answer all of your questions. It was definitely worth the trip and we spent 2 hours touring the mansion and...
Read moreI had seen a couple performances at the Salisbury House before so when it came time to plan my wedding, I knew there was no other location I would rather have my ceremony at than the Salisbury House. Would absolutely recommend to any brides-to-be considering the...
Read moreThis is a stunning place with amazing art as well as architecture and architectural craftsmanship. We visited today, Nov 12 and we went for the first tour. We had a wonderful and knowledgeable guide and we were the only ones there! A private tour! The guided tour is worth the extra expense as you will see more of the home and you will have docent guided tour with background and additional information. Whether you like textiles, paintings, pipe organs (amazing), sculpture or woodworking, you will delight in this amazing home. And we went with very cold weather and it was toasty warm! You will have stairs to climb. And there is parking. I cant say much about the gardens as it was all covered in a beautiful blanket of snow. This is a must see for locals and...
