If you're looking for a restaurant with a perfect blend of atmosphere and authentic Mexican cuisine, this is the spot! From the moment you step onto the patio, you're greeted with a warm and vibrant energy that instantly transports you. The decor is colorful and festive, with beautiful and lush greenery that makes you feel like you're dining in a cozy Mexican courtyard. On top of that, the food is great! Every dish we tried was packed with flavor. The guacamole is a must, and their margaritas are some of the best I’ve ever had—perfectly balanced and refreshing. Whether you're there for the food or just to enjoy the atmosphere, this restaurant does not disappoint. It's quickly become one of our favorite spots for a casual night out or to entertain guests. Highly recommend!

A Des Moines mainstay, El Patio is a family environment, don’t expect an experience like a chain Mexican joint, these are people with a history of customer service and a passion for delivering an experience like home with an environment decorated with art sourced from New Mexico and served with love. Recommend the blue corn enchiladas.

Converted house made Mexican? restaurant. Tried 2 separate times. Limited ground beef/pork menu, with Mexican food made by white people. I don't think a real Mexican ever set foot here. Let's be honest, the food is horrible. The service is good and the atmosphere is interesting to say the least.

The food was fine. The patio is lovely, there is no debating that. Our server was an absolute doll and very professional. The one star was a result of a check discrepancy which was NEVER resolved by the owner. Our check totaled $66 and some change. When my card was processed, the amount was over $140.00. I understand errors happen and called to resolve. Day 1: I called and left a message with a woman to have the owner call me back to resolve the issue as she was unable. I called again that day, leaving the same message. The owner did call and could not refund the funds for what seemed a reasonable reason. Day 2: I called back with a different card to attempt the refund. Left the message and was assured the owner would call that day. No call. Day 3: I waited another full day waiting for a call to be refunded the overcharge. No call.

I ended up having to file a debit card fraud report with my bank in order to be refunded the over $70 I was owed. I waited a full week for a call before I posted this review as I don't like to leave negative reviews. It's...

Let me say do not be in a hurry, good luck finding a place to park, you need time here, but honestly this place is incredible! We were very nervous and timid walking in, we waitied in a small area but plenty of cool stuff all over everywhere to keep you busy! Even some newspaper if that gives you an idea of the average wait. The place is small, and cozy and quiet, very quiet. you get just enough room, but no more! Lol we both got the kahuna burrito, it sounded the best. The food, all of it, from the salty chips, hot salsa and cheddar queso, to the Incredible salad with the best dressing that I still have no idea what it was, she made a long island for us even though they don't have them, and very strong no holding back. they go all out for you with a little candle and flowers at each table huge portions and just incredible. You literally have to try this place. If not just for...
