I had seen a couple performances at the Salisbury House before so when it came time to plan my wedding, I knew there was no other location I would rather have my ceremony at than the Salisbury House. Absolutely stunning. We had our ceremony indoors in the Common Room. There was enough seating for approximately 100 people, and the air conditioning stayed cool even with that many people inside one room. The photos taken there are simply gorgeous and the atmosphere was so refined and elegant. I mean, every single room is beautiful so the photo potential is endless! The staff at the Salisbury House was a joy to work with and they always seemed excited to show me around and ask questions about my big day. Would absolutely recommend to any brides-to-be considering the Salisbury House.

This is a stunning place with amazing art as well as architecture and architectural craftsmanship. We visited today, Nov 12 and we went for the first tour. We had a wonderful and knowledgeable guide and we were the only ones there! A private tour! The guided tour is worth the extra expense as you will see more of the home and you will have docent guided tour with background and additional information. Whether you like textiles, paintings, pipe organs (amazing), sculpture or woodworking, you will delight in this amazing home. And we went with very cold weather and it was toasty warm! You will have stairs to climb. And there is parking. I cant say much about the gardens as it was all covered in a beautiful blanket of snow. This is a must see for locals and visitors. Enjoy!

We held our ceremony and reception at Salisbury House and Gardens this August. The property is absolutely stunning. We received so many compliments about the location of our ceremony (South Gardens) and reception (Cobblestone Courtyard). We worked with Lynn throughout the whole process and cannot say enough good things. She really made the experience great! She was there to answer our many questions and was present for multiple walk throughs with different vendors. Lynn and team also worked tirelessly during our event to make sure it went smoothly.

Absolutely beautiful and not at all what I thought it might be like. I knew it was built in the 1920s, but has taken more elements from Gothic and Tudor style architecture. Of course, there were elements of Art Deco. All of the artwork was splendid, and the staff were very nice. I did a self-guided tour and still learned so much about the house and who used to occupy it. Really great find, would definitely recommend checking it out. The event area(s) are also very pretty- would definitely host an event if I could.

As a wedding photographer, Salisbury House has been on my list of dream venues to photograph in Iowa. I was so excited to book a wedding here and the experience was amazing! Many newer wedding venues all look very similar. You simply can't beat the rich character and organic flow that Salisbury House brings to a wedding day. There's so many beautiful locations for photos. The staff was all so helpful throughout the entire wedding day. I hope to be back many times in the future!

This place is so beautiful and has such an interesting history in the heart of Des Moines. Getting a guided tour is well worth it. We've been here a handful of times and David is the best tour guide we've ever had. He is so immensely knowledgeable and passionate. There are many events, but you have to act fast if you want tickets. We bring anyone who visits us in Des Moines to tour the Salisbury, because it's just such an amazing European castle feel in the middle of the city
