I absolutely love this park & have been going for years, I now have taken my daughter here for years after being here so much as a child myself which is awesome. The parking is easy, the location is nice off 517, the scenery is lovely, the playground is enough to actually entertain & occupy the kiddos a bit, the bridge area between the two sides with the water beneath makes for a serene, beautiful & lovely centerpiece to the whole park & I've always loved that little river like view sitting on that bridge here. I've gone to the Festival of Lights here periodically since I was young & now my daughter has as well which I absolutely adore & cherish so much. It's not a bad park to bring the dog to either, I've always liked that park to bring the dog & kiddo to bc the dog really did everything with us that was possible & some places it was just rather difficult to take & manage birth of them but this was def one of the preferred spots to take em both for a park! It's a very safe park from what I know - from crime wise to equipment wise to just general safety standards in a place where you'd take your children - it's never been a place where safety was an issue in anyway. It's got one of those book drops if I remember right too, I love those little stand alone cabinets for books now where you can take a book & leave a book... It's such a super cute & creative & community supporting & educationally stimulating idea that I'm seeing more & more of & totally adore. I highly recommend checking this park out for a visit if you're looking to make a quick play run for the kids, find a spot to take the dog, take a moment for yourself outdoors, or just to read a book, do some exercise, etc. it isn't a huge park, it's def a quaint park so it's better for smaller outings & not an all dayer kinda park per se... But for any kind of small outing it's a perfect little spot. Other than the annual Festival of Lights it's not an event or long outing or party type park really, as I said above it's more suited for smaller outings,.. but it's perfect for it's size & has such a lovely, natural vibe to it for being smack dab in the suburbs basically lol. Def recommend & cherish...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreHere it is I've lived in Dickinson twice the first time I was here for two years, saying that to say that I've never have visited the Paul Hopkins part I moved back here one year ago and yesterday as I made my visit to the little corner store God put it in my heart and soul to enjoy the landscaping of what I believe is that the lakes open up to Dickinson Bayou. I truly love that I was able to enjoy just the simple things that I have not been able to since I've lost both of my legs amputated going on a year now,I'm a 69 year old disabled veteran that now I truly need more outings, I truly enjoy visiting and I'm going to make it a one or twice a week outing. Thanks for passing by and reading my thoughts and feelings on being considered as a...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreNice clean park. Parking lot is a bit small, but its take from the view. Dickinson bayou runs through the middle of the park and their is a bridge to get across. There is also a raised walk on the side opposite of the playground that you can go across and down and even do some bank fishing away from the crowds. There is alligators in the bayou and ive seen them pop up all along the bayou, but have never seen any of them come on the land near people. Typically the alligators observe us from the far as we should do the same with them. I have launched my kayak from.the banks, but it can be a bit tricky would be great if the did a small channel to the aide for...
