Original yelp review from April 2013: Lately I've been pretty stressed out about school as a good student should and consequently, I have forgotten to cut my hair. Being a relatively recent transplant to Atlanta, I had NO idea where to go to get my hair cut, but good 'ol yelp helped me find a place that was 1) very close by 2) cheap and 3) highly rated.
Having asian hair is a little hard to get cut at any typical american hair salon, I've been to so many in the past and they could never get it right regardless of how many pictures or descriptions I give them, so i looked for an asian salon and this one fit my criteria.
Walked in on a saturday around 3 and this place looked packed with customers. As I sat down to wait, one of the stylists came out and asked if I was here to get a haircut. Right away I was seated on a chair and she was asking me what i wanted. Having a larger face and shaggy hair, I just told her that I am looking for a professional, young, haircut that isn't too long or too short. She immediately got to working and snipping off locks of hair left and right.
Throughout the process she was asking me if certain parts looked good, if anything needed more trimming, etc. It was awesome! I never got to have so much input in how I wanted it. Feeling pretty relaxed I just let her have free reign over the fate of my hair style for the next few weeks. When she was done, she shampooed my hair and showed me how to style it. It looks great and was very fast! The best part is that it only cost $14 for a mens haircut.
I think I found my new go-to place out here in Atlanta!
Also, if you were looking for a place to have kids hair cut as well, I saw a few little tykes across from me enjoying it very much and they looked so adorable afterward too!
2015 UPDATE: So it has been 2 years since my original review and I have not gone to a single other hair salon. Service is always top notch and I can't help but feel awesome after every visit regardless of the stresses of grad school life. Wilson has become my go-to stylist. He has magic hands and is a great conversationalist. It will be a sad day when I eventually leave Atlanta to go...
Read moreI’ve been coming to Sen Salon since 2015, and I’m so glad they’ve relocated to their new spot on 5953 Buford Hwy (Ste 106). Their previous location was right next to Northern China Eatery, but the new space is just as inviting—clean, modern, and welcoming.
All the stylists—Ben, Maria, Michelle, Wilson, and another talented stylist whose name I haven’t caught—are fantastic at what they do! I’ve had shampoo and style appointments with each of them over the years, and the service is always consistent, professional, and friendly. I mostly see Michelle, but honestly, you can’t go wrong with anyone on the team.
A special shoutout to Isabella—her shampoo and head massage are absolutely amazing! It’s the highlight of every visit. Lately, I’ve also noticed her assisting with blow drying and coloring—she’s clearly learning from the best, and doing a great job.
They welcome walk-ins, which is super convenient, and the prices are affordable without sacrificing quality. Friendly service, skilled stylists, and a relaxing atmosphere—Sen Salon…BEST INTERNATIONAL SALON in ATLANTA—is truly a hidden gem....
Read moreIf you are an Asian who really cares about your hair then I think you should read my comment.
All the stylist are from southeastern China they speak both Chinese and Cantonese which is good for you to communicate with them, telling them exactly what kind of style you want.
However, in my opinion, I don't really think the stylists can make a haircut that will make you 100% satisfied. I can definitely assure you that because I have get a haircut from almost every stylist from here. Unfortunately, you couldn't find other places which is better than this place, so you have no choice but still come here. You just have to admit the truth that you couldn't find any better stylist that you used to have back in your hometown.
By the way, I will recommend you to come during the weekdays which there aren't that much customers so the barber could spend more time to focus on you. If you come during the weekends, then they would probably spent nearly 15 minutes on you, and you can imagine how bad that you...
