I am very hurt and disappointed by my experience with the Vintage Style Show. We showed up a little late to the show because I had a medical situation and the people running the show refused to let us in. I felt extremely hurt because I was looking forward to this event for the past two weeks and drove from 40 minutes away just for this, so I ended up running off the premises in tears. I know there were tickets available still because we called earlier in the day, so I know that wasn't the issue. I also found it incredibly odd that we were turned away from a fundraiser. Doesn't that defeat the purpose of a fundraiser? Some constructive feedback I have is perhaps the flyers advertising the event and the Facebook event should have specified a timeline of the event. I figured being slightly late wouldn't be an issue because the advertisement lists "prize raffles, mocktails, light appetizers" all before "vintage fashion show". If the show starts at 3 pm and the entire event starts at 3 pm, then when would there be an opportunity to do all those other things? This seems misleading. If those other things actually start at 2:30 pm, then that information should be disclosed. So I get there at 3:15 pm and it seems reasonable to think, "Well, all those other things have to happen too, so I bet the show hasn't started yet." The advertisements were deceitful. This experience broke my heart. I would not recommend this establishment or...
Read moreI can't say enough about all of the wonderful staff at the Reeve's Victorian home who made me feel genuinely welcomed. I visited last weekend and Amy was wonderfully knowledgeable and answered all of my questions regarding the home and the family.
This museum has some of the most interesting artifacts including items from the early days of Ohio to items from the old post office, bank, and from both a female doctor and dentist. The family's carriage is beautiful and I was interested to learn that one of the daughters drove an electric car which was unheard of in those days.
The family was very forward thinking and were generous to those around them.
I would highly recommend a visit to this charming...
Read moreWe had a wonderful experience and a very interesting experience touring this beautiful home. What history it and the owners have left for generations to enjoy. The home and the Reeves foundation are still giving back to the Dover community in so many ways. Our tour guide was Don and was so much enjoyable to have tell us his knowledge of the home and family. He is definitely a valuable asset the Historical Society and it shows . We really enjoyed our time with him. Thanks to all who contribute. Gary Stuyvesant...
