Mathias Ham Historic Site — Attraction in Dubuque

My husband, 2 youngest daughters and I recently visited the Mathias Ham house. Unknown to us, we were in for a delightful and enlightening experience! We had an incredibly patient and knowledgeable young lady named Kaitlin provide our tour. Kaitlin was super patient and respectful of our MANY questions!! (we didn't know that our family had an ancestral connection to the Ham house until the day of our visit). Kaitlin went well above the "call of duty" in making our tour experience one that we will talk about for a lifetime! Thank you Kaitlin, for sharing all of your amazing insights and nuggets! I took my 10 year old daughter for tea at the Mathias House for Christmas. It was the most enjoyable day. Vicki is the most gracious innkeeper. I look forward to being able to spend the night at the Bed and Breakfast. Vicki gave us a fabulous tour of the house and the rooms are decorated to perfection. The reenactors seemed not organized and conflicted between themselves with my group, but did know many facts about the residents, history of the building and grounds. The house itself is in Desperate need of basic upkeep, repair and restoration. Many pieces of furniture and furnishings were from other periods and out of place.
