This is a nice place to have lunch, a beverage, and if you time it right, enjoy some live music. Yardarm is situated right at a marina along the Mississippi River with quite a bit of outdoor seating and three bars. We patronized the Yardarm on an August Sunday afternoon and enjoyed a buffalo chicken wrap with house made chips and their BLT with seasoned fries. We also asked for their Boom Boom sauce which seems to be mayonnaise-based sauce with vinegar, a little sweet, and a little heat. It was nice to add the sandwich or use as a dip. We also tried their bloody mary, mai tai, and frozen mango margarita. All the drinks were flavorful. The service was attentive and consistently good throughout the meal. The breeze and the sun made for a pleasant afternoon meal on their terrace. If you need a decent place for lunch (I don't know anything about their dinner scene) while in Dubuque - maybe after walking through Eagle Point Park - Yardarm is a good choice. Oh yeah - one of the big river boats sailed past while we were there 😁.

Love they view from here, and being on the water is nice. Large space and tables are not on top of you. However, the food is basic bar food, and while not horrible, it isn't anything special. The cheese curds were served with a raspberry sauce, which seemed out of place but tasted okay. The chicken in the wraps, while plentiful, was dry. Fries were good, and beer options were good. Drink choices seemed nice, but they didn't taste like much alcohol was in them.

Visited here on my solo south wisconsin trip, great drinks and food and friendly staff. I got the grilled cheese with a side of cheese curds (first time having), they have great bar inside and patio. I got a souviner shirt like I normally but the material leaves something to be desired, it’s the rough stuff cotton tshirt but it’s still got a nice color and I enjoyed my time.

We got to the restaurant (which was very busy, many people were drinking and not eating though). We were put on a list to be seated and were seated after about 20 mins. The rest was down hill. Our waitress took our drink orders and then came back to take our food orders. Food orders were placed about 20 mins after we were seated, including apps. Within the next THIRTY mins our waitress came over once to refill drinks and then to let us know that our apps were ALMOST ready. ALMOST. We waited another 10-15 mins before our apps finally came out. Then we continued to wait. 90 mins after we placed our food order and we were STILL waiting for our food. By this time we were all very hungry and not happy. Our waitress did not tell us the kitchen was running behind or offer any explanation as to why we still didn't have food. We reminded her that we placed our order 90 mins ago. We continued to wait. Someone brought us a free plate of chips and we continued to wait. And wait. And wait. TWO HOURS after we were seated, we FINALLY got our food order- which was missing one full plate, one side dish, and had an incorrect order for someone.

I'm not sure HOW this place has such good ratings. The food was decent, not great. The service was terrible. If something went wrong in the kitchen then that needs to be communicated with the tables. Free drinks and apologies need to be offered. But that did not happen. Instead we waited and waited and waited until we finally asked for them to check and reminded our waitress it had been 90 mins since we ordered. Only at that time did they give us free chips. Then we asked the manage for a discount on the food which we waited so long for. Yes, she did discount the food.

This is the worst restaurant experience I've ever had. I would never come back to this place. It's loud, crowded, and most people are just there to drink. So if you're looking for food.... Be prepared to wait for the rest of the night and then ask for the discount that should be...

After reading other reviews, I don't feel guilty or feel like I need to second guess my experience here. Came here on a road trip wanting to support local spots. Our server was a blonde young man. Wasn't attentive, put conversation with other staff before getting us things he had missed on our order, after already waiting way too long in a nearly empty restaurant. Tried to put that off, whatever. Food tasted really good. Not even an hour after leaving, 2 of us got bad food poisoning, postponing our drive home so we wouldn't be sick in the car. When I got home, that's when my food poisoning hit and I threw up almost 10 times. That, paired with the inability to be attentive was just so frustrating. The place is cool. On the water, band playing often, looked super clean everywhere. But that doesn't make up for the unnecessary waiting on our server. He was left a tip anyway, because we didn't want to come across as dismissive and uncaring as the staff did. Maybe that's the normal way you treat people here? But not where we come from so it was just all around disappointing. You would think countless reviews stating your servers lack the ability to be present, youd do sometbing about it. Bummer. I'd just avoid this place unfortunately. I really had...

This place gave me the goofiest story I have experienced in years. So for that I should give five stars.

Went here for the live music with my girlfriend. There are bouncers outside and you have to show ID to get in.

I showed my ID (non-Iowa) and the bouncer inspected it thoroughly but ultimately accepted it. My girlfriend showed hers (also non-Iowa) and, after like 2 minutes of analyzing the thing, the bouncer told us it’s a fake and he can’t let us in.

We were amused and questioned him on his assessment but I ultimately said something along the lines of, “you’re definitely wrong but its your call. We can just leave.”

Then suddenly this guy tells us he has to confiscate the ID. He kept lying about what her ID should look like (gotten her into a LOT of bars in the city where we live) and was extremely rude, treating us as if we’re 19. Were both around 30..

We told him to call the police or give the ID back. He refused to call the cops. So we told him he isn’t holding the ID.

Eventually he likely realized theft of government issued ID isn’t going to look good on him and gave us the ID and told us to leave in a rude tone.

Anyways we went to the Q Casino and both IDs...
