Two parts: 1. The base of the falls was amazingly beautiful. It was a hidden oasis. My kiddos loved walking around in the shallows and being misted by the waterfall. 2. The path down was "Very Strenuous" as declaired by the sign at the top. That path down (and up) is not for the faint of heart. I’ve lived an hour and a half from this golden nugget and this was the first time that we actually hike down to the base of the waterfall. This waterfalls is the highest one east of the Rocky Mountains at 276 feet. When you stand at the bottom, it feels like rain coming straight to your face just from the ricochet of the waterfall. The trail is a fairly steep decline .4 miles to the base of the falls, but there are rocky steps and a wooden fence carved out the entire way to make it easier. Fairly wide trail too for most of the way to let people pass or stop and rest if needed. SO worth it!! One of my favorite waterfalls and favorite trails.
