Bano Italian Boutique — Attraction in Durham

TLDR: body-shaming at my wedding dress fitting 9 days before my wedding day - no thank you!

I had my wedding dress altered at Bano. At first, everything was ok and they did a fine job making the dress shorter/fitting it to my body. However, they forgot about one of my appointments about a month out from the wedding - not a big deal since I still had time. However, my last week before I traveled to Pittsburgh for my wedding, I had my final fitting. They forgot about the appointment again (just days before I was supposed to leave). I was very frustrated, but returned the next day to the rescheduled appointment. At that appointment, I noted that the dress was a bit tight in the waist and I wanted to be able to move and dance comfortably. It needed let out slightly. Instead of correcting the issue, the seamstress took to body-shaming me, saying I gained weight, blaming me for the issue and her assistant instructed me to just workout the week before the wedding. After telling them that it is not their job to comment on my body - just to focus on altering the dress - it was slightly let out within 1.5 hours and fit perfectly. Be prepared to put up with verbal abuse, fight for what you need, and tell them to stay in their lane if you come here, but in my opinion, it is not...

This is the worst seamstress ever. Very unprofessional and rude. I called to arrange the pick up of my dress that I needed and she still did not show up to the store even though I was there at the exact arranged time. She didn’t even have the decency to call me to tell me she couldn’t be there. Furthermore she had the audacity to have me drive her to her store and charge me even though I don’t know her.
