Oval Drive Park — Attraction in Durham

This park was my favorite in the 90s and my son's favorite in 2004 and still one of a go to spots 4 him now as he's grown but there's a basketball and tennis court on the other side of the park. Now I'm bringing my 2 Year old nephew here in 2021... That's how great this park was and continues to be to our family year after year, generation to generation.... Did you know that on the 4th of July they have a kids parade and all the children decorate their bikes or their wagons and decorate their hair and their outfits and walk with the whole family in the parade .. A nice area for a public neighborhood park, but a VERY basic playground area. They have tons of open space to run around abs play, but, as far as playground equipment goes, there’s just a stand-alone slide, a small dome set of climbing monkey bars, and a large wobble seat for a family or group of people to sit in. A few small things to sit on or stand on but no real “playground” per say. There’s a paved concrete sidewalk walkway all the way around the entire park kids can ride their bikes or scooters around. This park & playground is located within a longtime Durham neighborhood. There is lots of space for kids to run & play. If you have a soccer ball or Frisbee to throw, there is plenty of space to use safely. There is easy street parking along the roads on both sides of this parking. During winter, the drinking fountains are turned off due to freezing rusk. NOTE: There are NOT any bathrooms at the section we visited.
