We recently drove around 45 minutes to dine at Lime & Lemon Indian Grill & Bar because we heard it was a great place to enjoy Indian cuisine. Well, right up front, I will say it was worth the long drive! Our food was delicious. We ordered a goat dish a chicken dish and variety of naan, and all of it was fresh and tasted amazing. Even the chicken was high quality and not cooked far in advance like many restaurants do, which leaves a strange aftertaste when restaurants do this. The main dishes come in different spiciness levels ranging for those mild at heart to those who can handle a lot of heat. I was not raised on Indian food, but over the years I have developed a liking for it and I can tell you that over time and eating it periodically, you will build up your tolerance for higher spice levels. They offer a wide variety of dishes to satisfy just about any person. The same goes for their really nice selection of beverages to choose from. Did I mention, there is also outdoor dining, which is great this time of year!
The icing on the cake, was Anand who was our waiter. He was fantastic in every way, from his superb knowledge of the menu items, to his keen ability to converse on a variety of topics, including one of favorites – travel to foreign countries. He was also very professional and helpful from start to finish during our visit to the restaurant. Anand has an admirable background, and his many years of experience being in the service industry is very apparent and hugely welcomed. He is certainly a King of Hospitality, and huge asset to Lime & Lemon Indian Grill & Bar. I won’t get into all the details, but I will just say he went above and beyond in many ways to ensure we thoroughly enjoyed our meals and time at the restaurant, as well as we left very happy. Thank you, Anand! And thank you to all the staff at the Lime & Lemon Indian Grill & Bar, including the great chefs, and management who are certainly leading this restaurant to a countless amount of...
Read moreCorporate atmosphere and not real Indian food. Disgusting as an Indian restaurant but just another corporate overpriced restaurant looking to trick and steal from the customer. We moved here from NY where they have authentic food and found Lime. We were served by Allison. The drinks were insanely small and overpriced. The food was sub par and had zero flavor. We both ordered entrée’swith rice. When we got our food each of us were supposed to get a bowl of rice which we paid for. Instead we got one small bowl of rice we were told to share. My wife then said both our meals come with rice, why do we only have one small rice to share. They were trying to save money and thought we were stuupid white man and Asian wife. But she’s a world class Dr and I’m a CEO so they tried to fool the wrong people. When they realized their scam was not working on in they immediately brought more rice and a free dessert and the manager came out to shake our hands. This is an old and well known trick among diverse restaurants who think that some patrons are stupid based on their race. But we figured them out fast. Don’t go here if you don’t wish to pay a premium price just to be taken advantage of by a place that is looking to maximize profits by thinking people who are of another race are stupid. We won’t frequent it again and would not suggest. Better off to try a hole in the wall or authentic cuisine. They did not offer any sauce or and additions for the naan which I think is insane considering the good places in Boston and NY do this without hesitation. They just want to save money and overcharge full and tasteless food. Do yourself a favor and stay away from all restaurants in Durham. They seem to all be overpriced and corporate. They are not authentic cuisine. Especially when it comes to ice cream. 24 dollars for the worst hit fudge Sunday I ever had… lol. I’ll be moving back to New York. The prices are cheaper and the food blows away Durham and most of the south…...
Read moreI have been a loyal customer of Lime and Lemon for years, always enjoying their à la carte dinner and recommending it to friends. However, my recent visit to their Sunday buffet was a huge letdown, and I feel compelled to share my experience.
A party of seven, including myself, came in eager to try their buffet based on a tempting menu flyer. Unfortunately, the food was far from what I had come to expect.
Here’s a breakdown: The Crab Masala was inedible - overly salty and unappetizing. The Filter Coffee Mousse was overwhelmingly sweet, to the point it felt like poison. Both the Chicken and Mutton curries were overcooked. The Kara Pakoras were doughy and undercooked inside. The Chicken Tandoori had uneven cooking, with some pieces still raw. To top it off, the buffet wasn’t properly maintained, and many of the hot dishes were lukewarm at best.
When I provided feedback about the quality of the dishes, the servers’ only response was, “I’ll let the chef know.” No further action was taken, and no one came to address my concerns personally. I had hoped the chef would come to listen and discuss the issues since I was speaking about facts I was experiencing firsthand.
That said, there were a couple of bright spots: The Live Appams were fresh and delicious, a real highlight of the buffet. We celebrated a birthday, and the restaurant brought out two complimentary ice creams (Pista and Mango) with candles and a “Happy Birthday” message. These ice creams were fantastic and helped salvage some of the experience.
Overall, this visit was very disappointing, especially after having such positive experiences with the à la carte menu in the past. The quality of food and service during the buffet was subpar, and it’s clear that there was little attention paid to maintaining the standards I’ve enjoyed before. I hope Lime and Lemon will take the necessary steps to improve their...
