The building was easy enough to find with the GPS. It is located in a strip of warehouse/utility storage looking buildings; the sign out front of the building was clearly marked. The front room immediately smelled of weed. So be aware of your surroundings if you are bringing littles ones.
I purchased the paint splash party {for 6} for my daughter's 17th birthday. Her and a group of her friends were able to essentially able to have a dedicated room to "rage paint". The room they used was directly behind the check-in desk.
This party package is supposed to be for one hour. We had some hiccups... hence losing the first star. The kids were all asked to clean up at the 30 min. mark. Which they did, my daughter came out to the car and let me know the staff wanted to know how we were carrying the canvases home. I was pretty surprised to see her so soon. I asked why it wasn't an hour long, did they not have fun or get hurt with paint in the eye or something? She said that they just told her to clean up and get ready to go... I went inside and pulled up the reservation showing it was the one hour party. They all agreed and allowed the group to go back in for the remainder of the time. I wasn't offered to add back in the additional 15-20 mins that they lost in clean up and explaining their mistake. That was just lost time that the kids didn't get back. Also, this made it awkward for the kids and they didn't feel comfortable going back in, not to mention they were clean and washed up already.... needless to say the experience was tainted a bit. So, be sure to tell the staff how long your session is before you go into the room!
An additional star was lost due to all the extras that seemed included, but were not. The front desk provided a canvas in the room to paint, the paint, and a poncho and blue tissue paper booties for over the shoes. Based on the website... but ended up that for an up-charge could be included in the experience: like, you could purchase taller plastic booties to cover your shoes and pant legs or you purchase the painters white coveralls that are seen on the website {to protect your clothes from the splashed paint}. I purchased the extra paint pack to be sure there was enough. I also purchased the before & after photos, those aren't typical? I also pre-tipped. So be sure to plan for the hidden extra fees!
Another feature that was another up-charge if we wanted... and what the website didn't tell me was how to transport the wet painted canvas home. They didn't offer a drying service, pick up tomorrow, or a box to put it in for safe travel. Nope, for another additional fee I could purchase the box to carry the wet canvas in. So, we took our 6 wet canvases home on our lap laying on top of a trash bag.
The last star lost was for the lack of care to the take home canvases. The canvases were stacked by a staff member when taking down off the walls, I assume this was to transport them all at once in a stacked pile from the room to the front desk, in one trip instead of carrying each one separately. However, this left paint residue from the canvas in front of it all around the edge {essentially ruining the painting} creating a messy paint border around the edge and then wrapping it in the trash bag smudged the paint even further. Clearly, the money was spent in the experience {which was tainted for our group by being cut short and ultimately not even the full length of time} as the take home gift was ruined and would need to be repainted to fix with colors that we don't have at home.
Ultimately, the kids had fun and made light of the situation later at the birthday dinner. But, I wouldn't spend that kind of money $300+ again for it to have gone this way. Learn from us: Check in with the desk for your activity time and get what you pay for; bring clothes you don't mind being ruined {like shoes} and bring the extra cash for the extra paint/coveralls or bring your own boxes for your canvases to travel safely...
Read moreI was looking forward to enjoying my time at Wreck it Rage Room in Durham. I scheduled my event on 5/22/2024 for an 8:30 pm appointment on 5/24/2024, but a family emergency arose. I called to cancel or reschedule and was informed that refunds must be requested 48 hours in advance and that rescheduling would cost an additional $40 unless it was on a Thursday nightâinformation that was not mentioned in the policy either.
When I mentioned that I hadn't seen this policy before my purchase, I was told it was included in the terms and conditions before payment. Assuming I might have overlooked it, I checked the website and found no such policy in the terms and conditions. Upon calling back, I was told the policy was in the confirmation email sent after payment. I tried to explain the illogical nature of expecting customers to know a policy if it is only revealed after payment. The representative then mentioned it was in the FAQs, which are not accessible from the home screen and require navigating through multiple links.
Despite my attempts to clarify that the terms and conditions did not include this policy, I was met with rude and dismissive comments from the "Owner," such as "Not our fault you did not read the confirmation email," "Who doesn't read the FAQs," and "You can try to dispute, but we have never lost a battle."
While I believe Wreck it Rage Room could be a great experience, they desperately need better policy communication, management, and...
Read moreThe two people my friend and I encountered were very friendly and helpful I booked a room for 200 dollars for 4 people and thought that it would be a great idea for my friends Bachelorette party unfortunately 2 of the bridesmaids dropped out the day before the Bachelorette party for unforseen reasons and were unable to go and I wasn't able to do a refund because there is a 48 hour policy which I find to be a fair and reasonable policy it was just an unfortunate situation for me since I had already paid for the room. Once my friend and I arrived at the location it was in a pretty secluded place attached to multiple other small buisinesses, the room wasn't very big and we had only a few select items to break which didnt seem worth what i had paid for and didnt match what i thought was advertised as 40 items to break and was instead more so around 10 or so pieces, in addition it was VERY hot inside and we were ready to go before our last 5 minutes due to being very overheated again because there wasn't any air conditioning which isn't good for anyone.
In the end, we did break the items and got our "RAGE" out but I wouldn't...
