44 Fruit and Veg — Attraction in Eagle

On their Facebook profile 44 Fruit & Veg: local family owned and operated fruit stand. The Shade family first began in the fruit business on Highway 44 in the 1940's.

I am surprised no one has reviewed this fruit & vegetable stand before now. Been waiting all winter for them to open as a client told me about them last year. It's a pretty good sized 'stand' and there were two young men and an older chap, Mel, working during my visit. I took advantage of Mel's experience and asked him a lot of questions about what they sold, where it was from and the most important question, 'How in the heck do you pick a good melon?' The guy is a wealth of information and he doesn't mind sharing it.

The stand is located on the south side of the highway, between Linder Rd and Eagle Rd. Parking area is not that big - I'd think on the weekends it might get full and you will have to park along the shoulder of the highway.

We bought asparagus, cantalope (Mel picked it for us), oranges, honeycrisp apples and mango jam. I was going nuts not being able to find mango jam since moving to ID. They sell local pies by Penny - haven't tried one, yet. Also saw bread and honey, too.

There's one item that I specifically wanted from this stand, but (not gonna lie) not going to name it as the competition could get tough. The quality of fruit and vegetables looked good and I intend to keep coming back during this year's season.

Really Cool place Not Expensive, fruits looks good, energy is GREAT, if looks like alot of people NO WORRIES!!!! Place isnt that big, were all there for the same thing, more or less. Get in Get out.
