Saybrook Park — Attraction in East Los Angeles

This is my local park, and I love it. But what I don't love is that Saybrook has, and continues to be a haven for drug dealers. The most recent issue has been people selling balloons full of Nitrous Oxide, called "Whippets", to children. These people are bringing 2 liter canisters of N2O to the park and dispensing it in balloons to CHILDREN. I watched a group of 3 young children leave Saybrook and sit down at a table in Northside Park to huff Nitrous Oxide. Much of the effort in keeping this park nice seems to have been focused on the baseball fields. There is a playground, but it's a joke: Two concrete pipes and a swing set. There are four places for swings; one of which is missing, one of which is a baby swing where the seat is set at adult chest level, making it difficult to get kid in and out. There's a horseshoe pit; who plays horseshoes? Just not an attractive looking park, no wonder no one was there on a nice spring day. Really...

I really love this park because I grew up one block away. I spend my child hood playing little league baseball. I also bring my kids here to play in the playground and everytime I bring my kids they always bump into some one that they know and start playing together.
