For me, this park is a water site---I've only visited via kayaks and paddle boards---and live across the river in NYC. There are few places to pull off the river on the Jersey side south of the Palisades and this is one of them. The giant flag is beautiful and befits the purpose of the park in remembering those that served. It also serves as a great aid in instantly knowing where you are on the river and as a wind gauge. Now, for those, like me, that get here by paddling: At high tide there is no beach (the whole shore will look like fairly large boulders and rocks, so plan accordingly. From mid-tide to low tide there is a small beach composed of a mix of sand, pebbles and small rocks (see photos). At low tide the beach will be obvious as a short notch at the center of the park's shoreline with large boulders behind it and on either side. If you are due east from the flagpole, the center of the short-in-length beach (maybe 10 yards?) will be just a few yards, 20 or so, N of the flag. Photos with the inflatable standup paddle board are from summer 2015 while the park was still under construction (or renovation, not sure which). Others are from different visits between...
Read moreHad a great experience picnicking here last weekend after finding Palisades Park temporary closed. This spot turned out to be a pleasant surprise; well-maintained grounds, clean bathrooms, and plenty of amenities that really show the town is putting tax dollars to good use. The park offers a scenic Hudson River waterfront walkway with beautiful views of the NYC skyline, making it a relaxing place to unwind. There’s ample parking, a playground, sports fields, and enough picnic tables, so it’s easy to spend a few hours here comfortably. It’s also perfectly located if you’re stopping by Mitsuwa Marketplace or grabbing food from The Pitt BBQ nearby, ideal for a spontaneous picnic. Overall, this mini park is a solid community space that’s clean, family-friendly, and a great alternative when other parks are closed or crowded. Hopefully the...
Read moreThis is a great playground. I've been taking my toddler son here for over a year now. The play area has blue tire rubber like substance to dampen the kids off they fall, a really nice touch. The playground area has 3 sections, the small kids up to 3 it so, the bigger kids up to 7-8, then the bigger kids, even a few things for adults. In the summer the playground area has sprinklers that run which is great for kids The baseball fields are beautiful as well as the turf football field. The bathroom is very nice especially for a public bathroom, with full changing station. The park in the water overlooking upper west side and the GW doesn't hurt. I've been spoiled by...
